We began our war against Rhoznax half a year ago - after initial territorial gains in the east and losses in the west, we're now almost back to where we started - the most recent engagement was the Battle of Seldabad, in which most of Paitras and Roggar's elite forces were wiped out, while the elvish armies were forced to retreat - now on the desert front, the Rhoznaxi are on the counteroffensive. The Fortress of Miturah is still under siege in the southern mountains, although Duke Stone-Stacker has retired from the front-lines stating health concerns due to old age , leaving his second, General Claudius Vance, in charge.

We're basically doing the same things we're already doing, but the government gets to tax people to pay for the people who go in the House of Lords and speak without saying anything.
In other news, both sides keep throwing men and supplies at Miturah. The Oasis Fortress is our last holding in the enemy desert territory, the Zhongi front is also a stalemate.

What should we do about the war?
>>
>>1629814
Zhong front
-Coordinate with allies to do hit and run attacks on the zhong positions.
-Roggar reinforcements should be mostly sent to this front to help hold the Zhongian offensive back.

Eastern front
-Hold the line at Stomans gate Reinforcements from Paitras and Anglanorse will help hold the fort.

Miturah
-Stop attacking the damn fort its not worth it.

Oasis fortress
-Abandon it the Rhoznaxi Legions in the deserts can cut of and destroy the armies there.

Winter saw almost no battles being fought in Setyrias - a respite for both sides, with us withdrawing from the Oasis Fortress with ease, leaving nothing but rubble for the enemy to use. We stopped our assault on Miturah and have stabilized supply lines and the situation in the valley in general.
The centaurs made gains, though - they lured an orcish army into the steppes and crushed it, after which, with renewed forces, the Lursari advanced and took one of the main cities of Kovinarg.
The concerning news come from Hajatas. Rhoznax has advanced from the east, seizing swathes of territory and is now almost in reach of Kambor itself. Word is that Toimibon, the Dark Titan, is leading the offensive there.
Akeshisu armies invaded the main island of Selaven successfuly and have taken the capital and many other cities - resistance is now largely disorganized, King Simren Selris having been captured.

Allied military intelligence has given us a good view on enemy force disposition and through the winter our own ranks were restored.
On the Zhongi front, Roggar has 20k ogres, 80k others and Ondalia has 65k troops. We have 300 ships in the region, while the Zhongi naval forces are believed to be of equivalent or lesser size in total and lower quality in general. Landwise, they hold the border region with a force slightly smaller than ours - they seem to have given up on offensives and are content with holding the line there and directing attacks elsewhere.
The centaurs have 130k active forces, while in the badlands the total amount of standing enemy forces is believed to be smaller.
In the Valley we have 45k Kragnan troops, 45k Roggarian troops and 10k Minotaur forces.
At Stoman's Gate and in Ezirin we have the Imperial Army, which has recovered up to its regular size of 30k. Most of Anglanorse's troops are there - 70k men. Along with them we have fresh troops - 40k from Roggar and 30k from Paitras. The elves hold their lands with a force of 160k, others being positioned elsewhere. Total enemy forces in the Aeldabadi desert region are estimated at around 300k. In the eastern seas we have an advantage - close to 500 war ships in total on our side, facing no more than 300 enemy, according to reports.

What shall we do next?

Assault the fortress!
>>
>>1629942
East front
-Continue holding the line at Stomans gate.

Zhong front
-Keep up hit and run.
-Bring in more Reinforcements to help bolster the defenses.

4th of Abadid - news comes that the Rhoznaxi are on the move, headed eastward, to eliminate the elvish holdings in the Hasgaldam region. We've lost contact with our spies behind the frontline recently and we don't know what's going on beyond Stoman's Gates. We have a sizable force there - what should we do with it?

Due to some routine security controls and similar trivial issues, Trusted Deputy Longknife and his mistress is confined to quarters for the near future.
Command of Trusted Faction forces in the region will in the meantime be by his second in command, Sir Jasper the Fat.

Sir Jasper, a former hedge knight, recently rose to fame after marrying Lady Java Vanders, daughter of the late Trusted Councilor Vanders. Her dowry (after gifting half of it to the duke of Virinum for assisting with the arrangement of the wedding) sufficient for him to buy into rank and title as allowed by the laws of Empress Wave.
While perhaps a bit overweight, having only one good eye and a lame leg, he is still a knight and sufficiently knowledgable in matters of strategy, (as long as he can discuss them by way of parables concerning food).

Some notes:
It'll be around 1200km from Stoman's Gate to Hasgaldam by the long route, which will be one to two months depending on the speed the army is able to travel - part of the distance being through mountains, ashlands and desert will mean it's going to be at least five weeks.
Empress Wave has yet to name an Imperial Marshall.
Consider your votes and what we'll do, I'll go for a jog and be back to start writing in a bit.

It might be a ruse by the Rhoznaxi to bait away our troops from Stomans gate, moving the whole army and leaving the Gate undefended is not a wise move but just in case the offensive is really on the Elves we should send some assistance.

"While I'm not known for being a man of needless taking of risk, I believe the long route will simply be too long for us to make it in time.
When cooking a dish, you can't leave it on the stove for too long, if you do you might overcook it or perhaps even burn it. That does not make for a tasty meal.
Therefore I advocate the short route. As in cooking, timing is of the essence."

With the oasis fortress having been destroyed earlier, taking the oasis itself was relatively easy - a small force was left to guard it and our host was able to overtake them with ease.
Now able to scout out ahead, we've determined that the enemy's main forces are converging on Hasgaldam from north and south. We have three options at present.
A.Strike at the closest enemy army! The elves will hit them from the rear, it will be hammer and anvil! Press our advantage while we can!
B.Maneuver around to prevent Hasgaldam being encircled, support the defence and carefully push the enemy out without looking for reckless engagements
C.Forget Hasgaldam! Take this opportunity to march on Aeldabad! Fortune favours the bold!

King Haraldson favours the second option, but a large enough majority of opinion from other commanders could persuade him otherwise.

10th of Abadid.
Our forces are at full strength(128k) and we've scouted out the enemy's positions well.
They've set up camps in the hills around the pass that leads into the Hasgaldam valley. A fort has been erected to guard the road that leads to Hasgaldam, small outposts guard the perimeters, which can not be traversed by entire armies - just smaller forces, given the lack of roads and the rough terrain.
Fortunately for us, most of the fortifications and deployments in general are aimed at Hasgaldam - the enemy's rear is not too well defended, with around 20-30k men in our way before the fort. The enemy's main force is estimated to be around a hundred thousand, with others having been sent forth to raid around the valley's farmlands.
What should we do?
>>
>>1638693
Rush forward, hoping to catch the enemy off guard

And on that red day
Valiant Ser Jasper with his Youngblood Brigade struck hard. Fast, into the heart of the foe's camp - though many fell, they took the ramparts and held up the banner of the dragonskull up high. As wave after wave of Anavarkists assaulted their position, as the sun was going down, they held the banner up - by the weight of their dead bodies, when it came to it. Brave Sir Jasper held the rampart when the knights on their steeds came, from air and land, crashing into the foe and turning the tide.
By night's fall the battle is won - the enemy is routing, but with this two-pronged attack they'll find it hard to escape with ease. 3 rolls for pursuit.

The battle is a heroic victory for our side! Panic spreads through the enemy side as their commander is struck down and the elvish griffon riders take down the lesser of the two dragons - with the mobile forces finally making their appearance after taking out the outposts, the enemy is left with a small line through which they try to escape, but to no avail - this is even better than a full encirclement, because if they had no way out they'd have fought tooth and nail to the last man - here, tens of thousands sought to flee, but were instead slain or captured, in the end almost the entire enemy army of more than a hundred thousand being wiped out, while on our side the dead are no more than ten thousand.
The enemy's southern army will likely retreat now - but for that, we'll have to see later. Unforseen scheduling issues force me to leave the rest of this for tomorrow.

Selaven tried one last desperate counter-offensive and got absolutely rekt. Their King has become a vassal to Emperor Akajima.
Our hit and run tactics forced the Zhongi to abandon Bien-gan during the night and retreat south to Piosum.

The Kambori have pushed off the first assaults on their capital region successfuly.

The present situation on the mountain front:
Our total amount of forces here amount to 50k Kragnans, 60k Roggarians and 15k Minotaurs. The ruins of Miturah are in our hands and we've secured some maps which reveal what lies ahead - the capital city, Petrek itself, is not too far and aside from it there are many other dwarvish settlements and holds in the region - the dwarves use a small amount of square kilometers far more efficiently, having settlements both above and below ground, tunnels that connect one end of a hill or mountain to the other.
Not everything's perfect for us.

Less than a day's travel beyond Miturah lies the second fortress on the road to Petrek - Durga. The dwarves have built fortresses to defend passes in multiple locations.

Our supplies are fine, our men are well rested and in good health. The Roggarians among them don't know about the money problems yet, other than the commanders - that is to say, you. You've just gotten word of the issues back home.
It's the 7th of Ezdarin, 813. General Claudius Vance is the commander of this army. If you don't have a character present, just invent someone at a mid to low ranked officer position.

Fortress Durga is the only choice, we shall begin scouting and siege preperations for it at once.

Claudius Vance, appearing exhausted, as if haunted by nightmares, places counters upon the map before the assembled officers.

“We need to press on, we cannot stop, the spirits of the dead demands it...”
“The...”

“The fortress Durga must be taken, 80'000 shall advance upon it and initiate the siege.
Meanwhile, 40'000 men shall advance upon the fortress to the pass to Aeldabad, we must secure that flank...
The remaining 5'000 shall remain behind in the valley, as garrison...”

“That is my plan, if you have suggestions then let me hear them, speak freely.”

"I do not think this wise, you divide us weakening the main army whilst waiting for an attack that will not happen."

"You can not know that, that region is their heartland and they have displayed again and again their abilities at raising armies from dust.
We need that fort if only for the early warning."

Still, I will listen to the majority there:
A Both forts
B Only Durga

We dont need an extra front when we need to conquer a nation of forts.

Samuel Hayden, a noble and ruler of Barnabus Rest and its surrounding lands has declared a new movement...
Having spent time in the west looking at Gajaxlani writing, and then returning to serve in the army before being honrably discharged on account of his leg wound, he has made his intentions clear of setting up a new movement...
The Roggarion Nationalist Movement.
A movement focused around the idea of Democracy and making Roggar trully the strongest nation on this planet.
The Roggarion Nationalist Movement (or RNM) is the first political party in Roggar and hopes to achieve great change within the nation.
Samuel Hayden already has a significant following among the university goers of the nation, were he frequently rallies them with his awe inspiring speeches and charisma.

“Gentlemen, while I do not agree with your judgement of the situation, I did ask for it, and I will not go back on my word to listen to you.
This is not a risk I wish to take, exposing our flank like this, but I will not try to wash my hands of the responsibility as general either.
I am in charge and the responsibility is on my shoulders, come what may.

Here is what I have decided upon:
10'000 soldiers, roggarians and kragnans, will march into the pass guarded by the fortress of Jyotsna, but not to seek battle. They will there proceed to prepare ambush sites, hunt down enemy scouts and send out scouts of our own. We must keep the enemy in the dark while gaining as much knowledge as possible for ourselves. And if they come we must be ready to ambush and slow them down as long as possible.
10'000 soldiers, also roggarians and kragnans, shall do the same on the route towards the fortress guarding Aeldabad. If a force comes from that direction we will need as much time as possible to redeploy.
5'000 troops, roggarian all, shall garrison the Valley, ready to move where they're needed.
And finally, 100'000 soldiers, consisting of 15'000 minotaurs, 45'000 roggarians and 40'000 kragnans, will advance on Durga under my personal command. If the defenders refuse to yield then we shall take it by force of arms.

And with that I end this session of council, now let us all prepare ourselves and pray for the blessing of the Pantheon.”

Some more details
The two forces of 10k will be fielding a significant number of light troops and cavalry, for example the famed goat cavalry of gobbopolis.
Their artillery and gunpowder will mostly be handed over to the main force going towards Durga, (only the lightest of cannons to be retained).

Light troops and cav for the irregular & scouting, heavy inf and guns for the siege.
