Erroneous birds chirping, the feel of wet dew on calloused bareback, a meek wind peeking through burdened air. These are but a few of the senses that overwhelm you upon awakening from an unruly rest. Through great effort, an attempt at turning towards the sky is made in earnest. Tight throngs of tingling pain stab through unworked and unused muscles, causing a quavering groan to escape a dry mouth.

Through momentous perseverance, and many minutes of fitful squirming, you face the drifting cloudy sky. The timid sun beats down upon cold face, attempting to dispel an august chill. What feels like ages of detritus on dull tan lashes are forced apart by the opening of unprepared eyes.

For upon first weary glance you know this is to be falsified, incorrect, blasphemous. Wrong. It must be, it has to be, because, for this to be true, it would be an affront to God himself and all you know true.

Shifting stones litter the horrid skies as though mocking you through their impossible existence. Creatures of all colors stain the vile sky, rarely knocking the heretical stones into another. But truly, the worst offender, the all encompassing sky is a rich thick green, masking the majority of the unsightly creatures in its verdant shroud.

Oh, yes that’s it, this isn’t real, this isn’t true, tis but a dream created after strenuous work and deep slumber… No, I mustn't lie, I can feel it deep within, this is no peaceful falsity, this is real, horrifyingly real. Mayhaps this is my punishment? For petty slights long past? Have I attracted the baleful glance of beings far greater than I? Perhaps if I just close my eyes I will be whisked away to a less illicit existence.

But there is no escape from here, all that is here is hills, rolling through the lands, wet with the tears of the morning. And… something else? Yes, yes, a door, a cedar door, pockmarked with holes from voracious creatures and critters, a clean white color pervading its wondrous reality. With a long, illustrious handle, and thick well oiled hinges.

Should? Is it okay? Am I allowed? This door… maybe my freedom from this ghastly plane, but it may be my doom as well. Should I let this gorgeous door stand unopened, unquestioned, unanswered. Or must I take the daring plunge and discover what this mystery shackled door begets?
