You wake up.
The room is pitch black.
You feel you are laying in bed.
You can hear the water dripping outside your window.

>What do you do?
>>
I get up to see if the window is open and if I can close it.
>>
Look around the room

You sit up and lean towards the window.
You can feel a soft breeze, indicating it is open.
You tug the window pane to one side, closing it.
>>1551460
You get out of bed.
You stand up and survey the room.
It's pitch black.
>>
>>1551462

I lay back down and go back to sleep
>>
>>1551463
Are you sure?

>>
>>1551465

I'm tired and I got to go to work in the morning so I go back to bed, the annoying breeze is gone.
>>
>>1551466
You hold a hand to your ear, listening intently.
You can just barely make out the water dripping outside your closed window.
You can also hear a faint whir on the other side of the room.
>>
>>1551469
It's my room right?
Is there anything that should have a fan running at this time of night?
>>
>>1551467
You decide it best to go back to bed, and do just that....

You wake up, feeling well rested.
The moon is out, casting light through your window and revealing some of it's contents.
>>1551471
It could be your desktop. You'd turn it off, but you're torrenting right now.
>>
>>1551472

I look out the window
>>
>>1551472
Check the time on my phone or desktop if need be
>>
>>1551473
Just outside your window you can see the rooftop of an adjacent building about 4 feet below.
Past that, you can see the skyline of the city.
Even further, you can see the moon shining bright.
>>
>>1551474
You walk over to your desktop and turn on your monitor.
You're torrent is almost done.
Looking at the corner of the screen, you can see it is 2:32 AM.
>>
>>1551475

I check my phone to see what time it is.
>>
>>1551477
You're phone confirms your computer's time of 2:32 AM.
>>
>>1551478
Grab some food from the fridge and go play vidya I guess
>>
>>1551478

I get up and flip the switch to the lights
>>
>>1551481
There is no fridge in your room, so you fail to grab any food.
You sit down at your desk and start up Fallout: New Vegas, hoping to spend a long while walking around the Mojave.
You play for no more than 2 hours before the game crashes because you looked at a bird funny.
Your torrent is done.
>>1551482
You flip the light switch and your room is filled with light.
>>
>>1551486

I go over to the computer, is it on?
>>
>>1551489
Yes but put on my headset first
Also by grab food i meant from the kitchen downstairs if need be
>>
>>1551492
Your computer is on.
You were using it for a few hours prior.
>>1551493
I apologize for the misunderstanding.

You grab a pair of headphones and play one of the MP3's from the torrent.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h61QG4s0I3U
>>
>>1551495

What was I doing?
>>
>>1551497
You were downloading a batch of MP3's a few hours ago before you went to sleep.
More recently, you were playing a game until it crashed.
Right now you are listening to an MP3 from the torrent.
>>
>>1551495
Contemplate my life
>>
>>1551498

I nod approvingly and torrent more music, particularly anything by the bee gees and check my emails/social media accounts
>>
>>1551500
You think about your life and how you ended up where you are.
To say the least, you've never strove to be anything more than comfortable.
Sometimes that meant sleeping in, sometimes it meant helping a friend in the wee hours of the night.
You're lucky to have everything you do right now.
>>
>>1551501
Your torrent of the Bee Gees goes quickly.
You listen to a classic track.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNFzfwLM72c
While the music plays, you check your e-mail and your Twitter.
You have no new messages or notifications.
>>
>>1551505

While my sickk bee gees torrents are going I get up and go over to the mirror
>>
>>1551506
In the mirror you see your reflection.
You stand at 5'11, with a lean build.
You have dark brown hair that falls down to your shoulders.
You are wearing a grey long sleeved tee and black sweatpants.
You have slight bags under your eyes.
>>
>>1551508

I go over to the dresser and see if there's any clothes I need to set aside for the day.
>>
>>1551508
Do we have some anime to watch?
>>
>>1551512
You go over to your dresser.
Sliding open a few drawers, you set aside a fresh black tee, a pair of jeans, white socks, and a blue hoodie.
In the middle of pulling out your clothes you see a glint of metal in the drawer.
>>1551514
You recently downloaded cowboy bebop and the original anime adaptation of Berserk.
>>
>>1551516

I investigate the glint of metal
>>

0102BKS-B.jpg
17KB, 770x513px
>>1551518
Reaching into your drawer to inspect the piece of metal, you prick your finger.
You move aside some clothes to reveal a knife.
What do you do with it?
>>
>>1551519

I wrap up my finger in a clean sock, then wrap up the knife in a sock, as well. Do I know where the knife came from?
>>
>>1551519
Stab it into something suitable that mom won't be mad at us for damaging
>>
>>1551521
After ruining a clean sock, you think about how a knife even ended up in your dresser.
You remember your 15th birthday.
Your less than reputable uncle gave it to you as a present.
Granted your parents didn't know about it, you still appreciated it.
You had no real use for it, so you hid it.
>>
>>1551523
You stab into an old shoebox under your bed.
A stack of old drawings and spelling tests has been slain.
You note that the edge of the knife is exceptionally sharp.
>>
>>1551525

what do I know about my less than reputable uncle?
>>
>>1551528
You know that he's had a rather checkered past with both of your parents.
Being your mother's brother, she's always put up with him.
Your father however had no patience for his antics.
He's had a history of jail sentences, never being free for more than a few years at a time.
He always treated you right though.
>>
>>1551531

I put the knife, now wrapped in a sock, back safely in the drawer.
>>
>>1551533
You put the knife back in the dresser.
While you shuffle about the room, you hear some footsteps in the hall outside your door.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551536

I open the door and peer out into the hall
>>
>>1551537
You crack open the door.
What you see is...hard to describe.
From the light filtering from your doorway, you can see claw marks and badly decayed drywall.
At the other end up the hall, you see two blank white eyes peer at you.
>>
>>1551541
Close the door
Retrieve the knife
>>
>>1551541

I close the door and run over to the draw where I stashed the knife and grab it from the sock
>>
>>1551543
>>1551544
You shut the door and retrieve your knife.
You hear the foot steps going down the hall towards your door.
As they grow closer, they're accompanied by heavy breather,
>>
>>1551545
Keep *it* from opening the door
>>
>>1551545
..."heavy breathing", I should say
>>
>>1551545

Holding my knife in one hand I go to he other side of the dresser and with all my might try to move the dresser to block the door
>>
>>1551546
You go over to the door.
Sure enough you can see the doorknob jiggling.
You hold it in place.
After a moment of struggling "it" opts to charge at the door.
You press yourself up against the door to halt "it".
You don't know how long you can keep this door up.
>>
>>1551548
You manage to drag your dresser over in front of your door.
"It" continues to charge into the door.
You can see small cracks start to form.
You can hear it snarling.
"It" sounds pissed.
>>
>>1551551
Open the window and consider jumping to the other building
>>
>>1551551

I open the window and begin climbing out
>>
>>1551552
You hurry over to the window and look out onto the adjacent roof below.
You could probably make that jump, just gotta not land on the red spot.
...There's a pool of blood on the roof.
>>
>>1551554
Are you sure about that?
You aren't even wearing shoes or nothing.
>>
>>1551556

ain't got time for shoes, let's do it
>>
>>1551556
Grab shoes and clothes we might need and make the jump, we can change later
>>
Rolled 2 (1d2)

rolling for a tie-breaker
>>
>>1551562
Deciding you'd rather not deal with whatever this intruder is, you grab a change of clothes and begin hoisting yourself out the window.
As you begin climbing down to the other roof, you see "it" shatter a portion of your door.
It forces it's head through, making itself visible.
Wild ivory eyes scan the room while a long tongue surrounded by dozens of teeth probes the air.
>>
>>1551563

Time to make the jump
>>
>>1551563
Jump
>>
>>1551564
>>1551566
You manage to land safely on the roof, albeit with a loud thump.
The beast has now forced it's way past your door.
You can hear it skulking around your room, pacing about till it stops for a moment.
When the sounds resume, you can hear it moving towards the window.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551569
What's the roof like?
>>
>>1551570
The roof is about 20 feet long before ending at a wall.
A few feet away you spot the pool of blood.
Upon further inspection, you can see a trail of blood leading from the puddle up to the wall of your room, going all the way up to your roof.
>>
>>1551572
I meant what's the topology like, flat roof? hiding spots? access ladders or stairs?
>>
>>1551573
The roof is flat, and provides no hiding spots or cover.
At the other end you can see a ladder leading up to the top of another part of the building.
The beast pokes it's head out the window, it's face stretching into a deformed grin.
It begins to climb out, before getting stuck midway.
It struggles furiously.
>>
>>1551574
What story are we on? No possibility to jump down?
If not go for the ladder
>>
>>1551578
You are currently on top of the first story of the building.
While you can jump down, I wouldn't recommend it.
Do you want to jump?
>>
>>1551579
Nay, go for the ladder
>>
>>1551580
Instead of jumping down onto the street below, you opt to take the ladder.
As you scramble up the ladder, you hear the beast free itself from the window.
As it begins to shamble towards you, you make it to the top up the ladder.
You stand in front of a door marked "SERVICE ONLY".
Do you want to try and open it?
>>

>>1551583
Does the situation looks something like that?
>>
>>1551587
Yeah. That's a good idea of the situation.
>>
>>1551589
Well it's this or horrible rape so might as well
>>
>>1551590
It's not rape, but it is murder.
Either way, it's violation.

You turn the handle of the door only to find out it's locked.
You could try to force the door open, or bang on it to see if anybody on the other side will respond.
The beast is at the base of the ladder now, thrashing about in attempt to get at you.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551593
Bang loudly once or twice then attempt to force it open
>>
>>1551594
You slam your fists against the door, hoping the noise will attract attention.
Despite the racket the beast is making as it tries to climb up, you do hear hurried footsteps on the other side.
As the beast claws it's way up the ladder, the door flings open.
You stand face to face with a man looking very fed up with the world right now.
"BOY WHAT FUCK ARE YOU DOING ON THE ROOF AT 5 IN THE MORNING!?"
He must not notice the monster.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551596
I'm tempted to just slip under him and get inside, how are our prospects?
>>
>>1551599
He's a crusty old fart, so you could probably slip past him and run down the stairs before he could catch you.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551600
Slip past him, either he'll understand when the beast gets to him or we're hallucinating and it doesn't matter
>>
>>1551602
You manage to dash past the old man, flying down the stairs.
"YOU GET THE FUCK BACK H-AAAAHHHGGHH..."
As you descend further you hear two gun shots and an ungodly roar following them.
When you get to the bottom of the stairs, you find yourself in a maintenance room lined with shelves of tools and appliances.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551603
See if we can quickly trip something in the way
Else keep going
>>
>>1551604
You knock over a few shelves at the foot of the stairs, trying to buy yourself more time.
You go for the door at the other end of the room, but find it locked.
You can hear the beast stomping down the stairs.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551606
Anything that could serve as a ram?
>>
>>1551606
You said tools right? Anything like a weed wacker or chainsaw
>>

41KB, 664x439px
>>1551607
You find nothing that could serve as a suitable ram in the room.
In your search, you fling open the drawers on a cabinet across the room.
In it, you find a revolver.
It looks to be chambered in .44 Special.
It is currently holding 5 cartridges.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551608
Some wrenches and a few screw-drivers, but no power tools.
>>
>>1551609
Grab it obviously, can we have a description of the beast?
>>
>>1551611
Pocketing the revolver, you try to make sense of the beast that's been chasing you.
From what you saw, it stands about 7 feet tall.
It's eyes are unnervingly large and completely white, set up above rows of ragged teach.
It's arms and legs seem oddly lean for the powerful chest it had.
As you are remembering all this, the beast crashes into the shelves at the bottom of the stairs, slamming into the wall.
It's dazed, if only for a moment.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551614
>ragged teach
*ragged teeth
fucking phone.

>>1551618
>>
>>1551619
You level your revolver, taking aim at the creature's chest.
As you fire, your hands jitter nervously.
You fire 3 shots.
You're first shot misses, slamming into the wall behind the beast.
Your second shot drills into where you assume its sternum would be.
Your third shot takes a chunk out of it's head.
The beast flops down and sputters before going still.
It's dead.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551622
Go loot the old man's body

>>1551624
You travel back up the stairs in the hopes of looting the old man.
You're sure he'd do the same if he were you.
What you do find is a severely mangle corpse.
It's missing chunks of flesh in multiple places, and it's starting to smell.
Giving him a quick once over, you find
>13 44 special rounds
>a S&W Model 69 revolver, holding 4 rounds
>a multitool
>a pocket flashlight
>a keyring
You pocket these items, praising your luck.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551626
Try out the keys on the locked door, steal the old mans shoes first
>>
>>1551626
Oh yeah seems like as good a time as any to dress up
>>
>>1551630
I need some shoes still plus old man shoes gotta have that gel insole for his back
>>
>>1551629
>>1551630
At the behest of the voice in your head, you pocket the old man's shoes as well.
Don't know what they'd do for you though, they don't fit you.
Remembering you were holding a change of clothes as well, you slip into those.
As you finish, you walk over to the door and find the old man's keys do in fact unlock it.
As you step out the door, your freeze in your tracks.
3 pairs of blank white eyes stare back at you.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551632
How are my chances concerning speed if i back the fuck up and try to lock the door again?
>>
>>1551634
You're about a step out the door.
You'd definitely make it back in and lock the door before you get gang-banged.
>>
>>1551635
IBack the fuck up and lock the door again
>>
>>1551635
Do exactly that
I'm thinking this won't stop unless we go investigate that trail of blood
>>
>>1551636
You turn back on your heels and slam the door shut.
In the middle of fiddling with the keys you can hear several sets of feet run towards the door.
You managed to lock it as they start growling and bashing at the door.
It's a steel door, so that's gonna take a while.
What do you do?
>>1551637
The trail of blood was just to indicate that something had been on your roof, and the puddle it comes from indicating that the water you heard wasn't actually water.
>>
>>1551639
Fortify the door
Then I'm considering going back to our house
>>
>>1551640
You drag the previously knocked over shelves and brace them against the door to the hall.
You feel just a little bit safer now.
You consider heading back to your house, figuring it'd be safer there than here.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551644
We looted eerything from the old man right?
Go back to the roof door and assess the situation outside
>>
>>1551648
You took everything from him but his shirt and his pants.
You head back up the stairs and climb down the access ladder.
Standing on the roof, you assess the situation.
You spy the puddle of blood on the roof from before, and you see that part of your window has been smashed.
From your vantage point, you can see the front door to your house hanging wide open.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551652
Do we remember if it was open the first time we ventured on the roof?
>>
>>1551655
You can't recall if it was ever open before now.
You do know it shouldn't be open in the first place since it's still 5 AM.
Or somewhere around there you think?
How long did you run for?
What do you do?
>>
>>1551657
Go to our bedroom window and look in, go to any other accessible window and look in
>>
>>1551659
You go to the only window available from this side of the house; the one leading to your bedroom.
Looking into your room you see the beast made a mess of things.
The door is still splintered, your dresser is flipped over, there's blood stains on the carpet, and it tore your mattress apart.
Fucking asshole.
What do you do?
>>
>>1551660
Blood stains on the carpet huh, guess we're an orphan now
Climb in
>>
>>1551662
You climb back into your room and think about the implications the blood stains have.
You feel numb. Incredibly numb.
You don't know what to think anymore.
In the middle of your crisis, you spot your PC.
In the corner of the screen, it says 7:33 AM...
That's not right...it couldn't have been that long.
It's still dark out and everything...

And that's where I'll call it for now.
Thanks for sticking around folks, this is going pretty decent for stuff I'mm pulling out of my ass.
Any thoughts?
>>
>>1551663
Almost dropped it at the start because I wasn't sure what you were going for and it took a bit long without any guidance
Also I think you left us a bit too much breathing room with the beast / perhaps not enough tension (after the first appearance)
Apart from that I really liked it
>>
>>1551665
Duley noted.
I'm sure it would have been paced better if I wasn't trying to get shit out as fast as possible or if I pre-wrote some stuff.
Right now I'm honestly just trying to get my feet wet as a QM, so this isn't going anywhere near as bad as it could be.
>>
>>1551667
Not that I know anything about writing but I liked it
And by without any guidance I meant that I was expecting things to happen but the lack of reaction threw me off
>tried listening because I thought the antagonist was already in the room
>thought the torrent would be some strange shit that would start the story
>thought the piece of metal would be some strange shit that would start the story
>>
>>1551672
Yeah, the story probably should have started out at the torrent, but the monster being in the room already would have been a good start too.
Oh well, live and learn.
Least we got to listen to the Bee Gees.
>>
Don't surrender. Try again.
