January 20th, 2037:

You stand in front of the priest. Millions of people across the country and the world watch as you raise your hand and take an oath of office. Shortly after you finish, you hear the words come out of the priest's mouth "Congratulations, you are now officially the President Of The United States". the crowd roars in eruption at the news as the band plays the music, everyone has welcomed you as the Leader of the United States.

its your First Day in Office, after settling in your new home in the White House, you enter the Oval Office and settle onto the seat multiple presidents have sat before you, this is Day 1 of President.

oh hell yeah
we going full space

ask staff to reach out to allies in congress to heavily lobby congressmen for NASA funding

This, space shall be our business

Op I don't mean to question your numbers but the population of Haiti is only 10.71 million.

Apparently one of these world events is going to wipe our their entire population in less than two days. So I guess we can go and take over that sovereign land then...
>>
>>1486399
Admittedly that is in real life, I suppose it could shift upwards slightly in the next 10 years but my point still stands.
>>
>>1486404

Yeah that was a weird thing to come across, the number could be taken down to 6,000 and still be a major humanitarian crisis
>>
>>1486408
Aye, at most 60,000 but that would still run through the population very quickly.

First order of business: Fuck the first lady in the oval office.

Second order of business: Declare martial law in Detroit, and after the entirety of our cabinet tells us not to because we'd be impeached and removed from office in twelve minutes flat re-institute stop and frisk and increase police presence while distracting the populace with edgy social media quotes and faux pas upon faux pas in foreign phone calls to leaders across the world.

Third order of business: Fuck the first lady in the Lincoln Bedroom.

Fourth order of business: Remember what party we belong to and pander a little bit

Fifth order of business: Throw money at NASA.
>>
>>1486495
Sixth order of business: Fuck the first lady on the ISS.

>European Union still existing

Is QM here to actually run this? Sounds fun
>>
This is such a bad idea it makes me laugh, but if we established a colony on Mars we wouldn't have to deal with problems on Earth any longer. We could be ruler of an entire planet.

As a less bad idea, asteroid mining could get us enough money to bail out Arizona or help their industry, reduce the need for high taxes, and fund the construction of virtual high schools that engage students directly. Get Elon Musk's number and invite Zuckerberg to the White House to talk about using Oculus to make OASIS real.
>>
Are we still the strongest military in the world?
Also reach out to russia and china for an alliance
And throw some money at the humanitarian goal in hati to make ourselves look good
And finally
Lobby hard to get more NASA and IRS funding

Guys
>>
We need to go to mars and create some colonies.

Also if we're willing to go into debt, a space elevator could be our great project. (Or just a larger mass driver)

Also have our debts with China stopped since the coup happened or do we still have debt?
>>
>>1486216
>Taxes have increased over 28%
>Arizona is on a verge of Bankruptcy
Nationwide tax break while we sort out the code.

>There's a Typhus Epidemic in Kentucky
It's time to restrict travel and send in the CDC. Also set up delousing centers around the state, mandatory to be deloused and get your name on file.

>High School Graduations have been slowly decreasing over the past years
review changes to the highschool regulations over the last 57 years. also push for a new law that says socialist can not be employed in the education system at any level.

>Chicago is listed as America's most dangerous city, with crimes occurring almost every hour
It's time for martial fucking law.

Its like you WANT a revolt
>>
>>1486685
Not if the people love us. We would need more info on approval, but if we can fix these problems, and House of Cards this shit, then it's possible
>>
>>1486690
A good way to make everybody live you is by opening up some doors and getting land
If we pull off martian colonization and bail out chicago and arizona while making friends with russia and china we will look really good
>>
Shit, I didn't think I would have a busy day today, can someone take over for a while as I have a lot of work to do, sorry about doing this.
>>
I think its clear the first step is to goto space, the question is do we lobby in congress or throw some sort of public campaign to promote the New American Space Race?
>>
>>1486773
Alright I suppose I can set up our character
>>
Mr. President, you have a country in turmoil, the likes which have never been seen since the Civil War. The debt is out of control, we have just a 1.2% growth rate, racial tensions are as high as they have ever been, and well, I don’t think I have to tell you the rest, you’ve seen the news, and the report. However, the populace elected you as an independent based on your ambitious ideas, and your connection with the average American. Before we can begin making reforms and fighting with congress, we have to get some details straightened out.

First, what is your name, Mr. President?
>Write in

Glad we got that squared away. Secondly, what is your background and why did the voters choose you specifically?

>My background in the military helped me to appeal to veterans and the lower/middle class, and how to instill discipline and respect.[Bonus to military actions]

>My successful business helped me to run my own campaign, which put many voters at ease, and also showed that I have a track record of success.[Bonus to actions related to the economy/tax reforms]

>My golden tongue let me seduce the populace into believing everything I said, no matter how outlandish.[Bonus to speeches made, less likely to be caught on a lie, and can break some campaign promises]

>My experience in the state department let me be an expert on foreign affairs, which is needed now that the middle east is in full war and Russia looks to be preparing to take Europe. [Bonus with dealing with foreign leaders]

>Working as a Senate minority whip, I managed to get numerous bills through congress, showing that I can get things done[Bonus with dealing with congress]

>Being from the Midwest and finding myself in politics, I have connected with the Average American more than any other president since Jackson.[Bonus to public opinion]

>I just played politics. I started as a Senator from my home state and I worked my way up the ladder of politics.[Bonus to any dealings politically, lower favor from the populace.]
>>
>>1486892
>My successful business helped me to run my own campaign, which put many voters at ease, and also showed that I have a track record of success.[Bonus to actions related to the economy/tax reforms]

I assume the US tax code is still the mess it is in real life apparently?
>>
>>1486949
Trump cleared away a lot of the fat, but after 15 years, it grew back by president after president

Might be a little Trump dicksucking
>>
>>1486956
Hey if his tax reforms go through, it looks like it will at least be slightly simpler.

But what you are saying is there are gains to be made by simplifying the tax code and eliminating loopholes?
>>
>>1486892
Being from the Midwest and finding myself in politics, I have connected with the Average American more than any other president since Jackson.[Bonus to public opinion]
If we go for the american caeser route we should take this
Our backstory is that florida born raised until the age of 10 in southern florida, but then a hurrican the likes of which has never been seen before destroyed the city of miami, killed our parents and left us missing for 2 years
When we were found we were shipped off to live with our grandparents in kansas city
They died at the ripe age of 96 and left us a old ma and pa shop
Evengoverner turned the shop into a small multi million dollar corporation and started to get involved in politics and became the governer of kansas
Our story shook many americans and is the main reason we got elected
>>
>>1486967
There's always gains to be made by the country when the tax code is simple and loopholes are eliminated. means more people can pay more of their taxes because the country on the whole isn't being kept down in lower income brackets. a wealthier populous without loopholes leads to more taxes being paid in total, even if you reduce the % paid.
>>
>>1486967
Basically this>>1487005
It's easier for Americans to understand it, less chance for money to slip through the cracks, and Americans don't have to hire people to do their taxes, meaning more money for the Middle Class
>>
>>1486956
Maybe a trade off of better economy, but overall worse stability and foreign relations with everyone but russia?
>>
>>1487012
Yeah, then it definitely benefits us to eliminate all that shit.
>>
>>1487014
Well Trump's reign was about 15 years ago, so not much is left of his improvements of the country. I mean he was basically the Reagan of the 21st country to many republicans.

Holy fuck, with a population of 350 million we would have a GDP of 7,298,900,000,000,000
>>
>>1487195
If he means per person, then I would think the average American is earning 20,854 a year
>>
>>1487219
I wouldn't think so, that'd be 10,000 lower than today. The current GDP per capita of the US is around 50,000 dollars, so I don't know where OP fucked up

>My golden tongue let me seduce the populace into believing everything I said, no matter how outlandish.

My plan is that we hire people to build concentration camps around the country, lowering unemployement rates and thus getting the economy going. We will harshen all prison sentences, so that most moderate+ crimes will result in a concentration camp visit. Any illegal immigrants are instantly to be issued into a camp. In these camps, the prisoners will be doing various physically straining / repetitive low-level tasks, such as stone processing, carpet knitting or crate moving. These prisoners may be lent out to corporations which the government considers favourable, thus increasing corporation patriotism and law-loyalty. These lent-prisoners will come in small groups overseen by 1-2 guards, further decreasing unemployment rates. All concentration camps will be solely under government control, and its products will be either used in future construction products or sold to stores.

Part 2: Information warfare. President MMMM is going to establish a shill team of around 1000 strong, access to military-grade scripts and mass alt-accounts. They will work together to create touching stories, subliminaly serving as pro-nazi propaganda, and spread it out on the internet, pumping it full with upvotes and comments whilst downvoting the opposition's posts into oblivion. Will use every chance to get a moderator / admin position. Simultanously, homosexuality will be put on the list of mental illnesses again, with electro-zapping theraphy and all experiments fully authorized. This will be the first step towards turning around the battle over the sexes. Using the shill support team, there is guaranteed to be nothing but good news about this.
>>
>>1489409
>>1489076
what if we throw funding at nasa to make space sex possible?
>>
>>1489999
It's not up to me as I am not really QM, but when I said "outlandish" I didn't mean holocaust tier. I was implying about promises Trump made, and even a little more extreme, like a wall around Canada. This option isn't a "I get to do whatever I want" option, more of just an intro into it
>>
>>1490055
Sex at least on the male end is possible in space, assuming your circulation is good enough and you aren't lacking in blood.

However sex is an incredibly messy affair what with all the fluids, so it will probably damage electronics in your space craft unless you have everything behind a water tight seal or a specialised section for sex.

So we have to send a honeymoon suite up to space essentially.
>>
Sorry I took so long, I didnt think I was going to be working for a long time. Anyways Im back.

On the first day of business, you decide to increase NASA's funding to space as you see the potential of Mars Colonization for your country and the world. Next, you give out humanitarian money to Haiti and plan to reach out to Russia and China for alliance.

After seeing the crime rates in Chicago, you decide to put the city on Martial Law. Already, Congress doesn't like the idea of the Military taking over police business and vetoes your law. You also pass a Nationwide tax break in order to resolve the increasing taxes and the Bankruptcy in Arizona.

Canadian Prime Minister Edward Rice congratulates you on your Inauguration and English Prime Minister Lucy Richford would like to invite you over for a welcoming party.

Also the Haitian President is asking for more Arms to fight against the Rebels in the North and South.

You also have a Congratulations message from Russian President Obrecht Kravchuk welcoming you as president.
>>

March 9th 2037

Its your 48 Days in office. ever since your first day, you have struck a trade deal with Australian Prime Minister Lisa Carter, eradicated the Typhus Epidemic in Kentucky and got fully involved with the Venezuelan Government.

Because of your increase on NASA's Budget, the Mars Colonization team can now expand on their research and now have brought in scientists that will try to find signs of life. Currently, you are planning a visit to Seoul in the Republic of Korea to meet with President Sohn Joo-Won to negotiate a trade deal between the two countries. So far, the corruption in Venezuela has decreased and the Government has given funds to help the young government but it still has a long way to go to become a full democracy.

We don't want another Cuban Missile Crisis, especially one where its the US vs the world instead of just Russia and Cuba.

>implying anybody would wanna fuck with us after we have a giant space cannon
>>
>>1491878
If we have the space cannon, what's stopping every other country from having one?

Cuban missile crisis.
>>
So are we going to help Haiti at all or are we just going to focus on our own shit?
>>
>>1491908
I'd suggest not getting directly involved, but opening our borders under tight security. We don't lose as much face that way.
>>
>>1491938
Fine. Gonna be invasive as fuck at the security checks though.
>>
>>1491956
Mandatory biometric data from refugees?

DNA, Fingerprints, the whole show?

Could be a window into a nationwide database on everyone.
>>

The oath of office is administered by the chief justice of the supreme court, not by a priest. To be fair, perhaps that will have changed by then.
>>
OP here, currently at work, but bumping this thread so it doesn't die
>>
In terms of venezuela, I agree with slowly but surely incorporating them into America, more land is always good, we just have to do it in the most careful way possible
>>
>>1494047 Yeah, don't want a repeat of that island in the Philippians.
>>
Sorry I took so long guys.

Seeing the large influx of refugees entering through Florida, you realize that you are dealing with the largest Humanitarian Crisis in the world since the Mid-2010's European Refugee Crisis so you decide to open the borders for refugees to come in easily but at the same time also have to go through heavy security checks in order to protect the country.

After hearing about the deadly floods occurring in Pennsylvania, you decide to bring in relief efforts to help the affected areas. You also start bringing in Military Aid to the Haitian Government to help them fight the rebels and sending in soldiers to help the Army.

In order to help Americanize Venezuela, you give monetary funds to the government to help reduce poverty and also sending in the CIA to help solve government corruption

Also, you're going to Seoul to meet with Sohn Joo-Won in order to negotiate a trade deal.

>>
Seoul:

You step out of Incheon International Airport with cheering crowds on your second foreign visit, first one being in Australia. After Driving through Songdo, multiple sights of Downtown Seoul and a large statue celebrating Unity between the north and the south after 80 years of separation, you finally reach the Blue House where you meet the president Sohn Joo-Won. after having a little chat and joking around, you get on with the trade deal.

The deal states that Korea increase trading between the countries by 78% and to decrease the cost by 10%

Accept?
>>
>>1494774
What's the opportunity cost here? Is this literally just benefits, or will this affect other deals?
>>
>>1494794
I will not affect the deals, it will just increase the trading goods.
>>
>>1494860
I'll approve it then.
>>
>>1494735
Mexico and/or Canada not annexed. OP, you have some explaining to do.
>>
>>1494774
I'm fine with it then.

How is KARI doing these days? It would be useful to have support from an allied, sane country who doesn't want anything from us in case something goes wrong during a launch.
>>
>>1494946
You know, if we're going to go through with the Mars Plan we're gonna need all the scientists we can get. Maybe we could get the Koreans in on it?

Other people to invite to the White House:

Elon Musk, unless he succeeded in dying on Mars.
Jeff Bezos.
Richard Branson.
Tim Urban. He has no reason to be there except for being Musk's friend, and it would be hilarious. Pic related.

Imagine how great it will look if we find a way to constructively involve them, and hopefully get some of their funding.

>President supports American entrepreneurs and taxpayers in planning historic Mars mission, fostering cooperation and lowering costs.

That's before we factor in the diplomatic rewards of working with other countries.
>>
>>1495028
Something else we could do
If we ever make an alliance with china and russia we should have a fuck huge party with the korean, japanese, venezuelan, chinse, and russian presidents, get drunk off our asses, and go to each nations respective capital
We the respond to guys on social media with meme pictures of all of us
Ex. Cuba goes into a depression
Post a picture of all of us around a laptop laughing
>>
>>1495028
Also, had a thought. You know how its easier to launch a ship the closer you are to the equator?

Well Venezuela's quite close...

I was thinking that this could foster good will between out peoples and get in on that their oil.

Cooperation with the ABAE would probably get us at least use of one of their launch pads.
>>
Also, if we are going to see about absorbing other nations into the US, I have an idea: What about all those tiny English speaking island nations in the Caribbean like Jamaica?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_of_the_Caribbean

All the islands in red speak English and could be absorbed fairly easily assuming we could convince them.

Also, can we get representation in the government for the people of Guam and the other US holdings that aren't officially states? They might be small but they are a US holdings. Also some nations we could quite easily absorb occupy the same lists:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territories_of_the_United_States
>>
You accept the trade deal and the room is filled with claps. After shaking the presidents hand, you go to dinner with him and shortly discuss the removal of landmines from the previous North Korean Civil War. After lunch, you leave Seoul and head back to the states where you will be visiting Florida to talk about the refugee crisis and to meet with the refugees.

Mobilise the US navy / coast guard to help with the search effort in panama unless we already have.

Also, is the US tech infrastructure still all shit? Still all Comcast grade?
>>
Also do we have any national debt?
>>
>>1495596
>help the search effort by sending in the coast guard
>show your general disgust to the governor of montana, send him to federal prison for life
>give praise to the mayor of miami, but make sure he knows his boundries

>move those hatians from puerto rico to florida
>give a speech asking for more people to help the humanitarian groups, the USA can't handel all of this shit
>>

Nope, its still one of the most technologivally advanced country in the world. Too give you an example of how advanced we are:

Sef driving cars now dominate the road

The internet is much larger than ever before, being connected to almost every products and appliances like Fridges or Cars

Robots now hold 70% of all jobs in the United States

And much more.
>>
>>1495761
That isn't what I mean, I mean is the mobile, 4G and other such coverage either expensive, unreliable or patchy? As I would like to take actions to improve the network if so.

Also are energy efficient lights required by law yet? How about low emissions cars? Minimal fuel efficiency laws? What about smart-grids?
>>
>>1495761
Well were jusy about to reach the point where socialism could actually work
>>
>>1495832
And we are colonising other planets.

We are this close to being the early federation.
>>
i still think we should build ODIN
just call it something more friendly to the public like the USS Freedom fuck yeah
>>
>>1496462
Trust me, I know of far lower cost massive space weapons we could commission.

I assume you are aware of the utility of a alterable velocity lunar surface-to-escape-velocity magnetic accelerator system?
>>
Fuck Odin, what we need is a screw propelled tank that can get up to speeds of 480km/h, to fire ICBMs up to 650 Kilometres. We shall call it the Shaggy Dog, Project Codename Ferrous Cog.
>>
Also a list of things to do:

1) Fix the tax code so it can be done more easily / handle tax avoidance more toughly.

2) Reduce government support for all forms of "non-practical" fields. Things like musical theatre or sociology. Fields which have either a incredibly small market of jobs to feed into or lack any actual market outright.

3) Cut down governmental corruption, administrative inefficiency and outside interference.

4) Reduce the size of the national guard, sell off the assets to allies and other nations.

5) Demilitarise the police and raise the standards of the police. Specifically in regards to situation deescalation, firearms use and such.

6) Continue with the Americanisation of central and north south america. Specifically the Venezuela region.

7) Lunar colony? As a stopping off point for mars missions and refuelling / refining of fuel point. Plus a place for our evil space weapons...
>>
>>1491682
Can we just add this on to every action?
>>
>>1495761
>The internet is much larger than ever before, being connected to almost every products and appliances like Fridges or Cars

Please tell me that we dedicate a sizable amount of our military budget to information security. Watch_Dogs 2 is a good example of how that can go badly.

>Robots now hold 70% of all jobs in the United States

How do people make enough money to survive? Universal Basic Income?

If we're going to build an evil space weapon, it would probably be better to sell it as a device for destroying asteroids before they collide with Earth. We can actually use it that way if we're ever in danger. Protecting the Earth from destruction will get all of humanity behind our colonization plans.
>>
>>1496557
Yeah, that is a good idea, however I would still argue a lunar surface-to-orbit transit coil could be of use. As we could set up manufacturing on the moon for a multitude of satellites and other such things, sending them into space far more cheaply than from earth.

Not to mention you can refine lunar regolith and ice into combustant and oxidiser for a rocket engine.
>>
So we're sticking mass drivers on the moon? I like this idea
>>
Also, what's inflation like? How much is a dollar now compared to 20 years ago?
>>
Sorry guys, im really sick and I didn't get enough sleep last night. Can someone take over for me for a while?
>>
Ok guys, im back. From what im seeing here, some of you guys are proposing a space cannon that can be used against nations. This unfortunataley cannot be feasible due to the Outer Space Treaty of 1967 which bans the use of weapons of mass destruction to be used in space
>>
>>1496981
No, no we are merely proposing the creation of a autonomous fuel refining station on the moon, which can launch canister / modules of fuel into orbit for ships to rendezvous with, using a magnetic accelerator system on the surface which if overcharged could send it on escape velocity from the moon and with minimal positioning, flying into the earth..
>>
>>1496981
What about the Venezuela/Korea team up for the Mars mission? That feasible?
>>
Rolled 6, 15, 3, 12, 18, 18 = 72 (6d20)

>>
>>1497047
Korea was part of the first mission to Mars, but Venezuela is a new candidate. Do they even have a space organization?
>>
>>1497084
>>
>>1496981
actually it doesnt ban weapons that involve launching giat tungsten rods such as odin
and besides FUCK THE TREATY AMERICA FICK YEAH
>>
I believe it only bans weapons of a nuclear or biological nature?
>>
>>1497634
thats correct senpai
>>
>>1496981
I would rather build something that has applications outside of war, like this: >>1496558 . An Omega Space Gun on the Moon and one on Earth for shipping goods back and forth. https://youtu.be/IfkpxJmSk_E?t=1h23m52s
>>
If 70 percent of america has no job, does that mean that everyone is doing whatever they want while being sustained by NEET bucks?
If so how hard is military and police training?
Ramp it up no matter what
>>
>>1500859
Nah I think he means 70% of jobs that currently exist have been automated.

However if what you are suggesting is the case, we can almost certainly take advantage of this mass of humans. Giving them data to process, designs to refine and so on. Never doubt the efficiency of the masses where the few may fail.

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/jan/25/online-gamers-solving-sciences-biggest-problems

Imagine if we apply this mass of humans to just refining everything in society? Just having them stare at puzzles to figure out better ways of doing things? Every puzzle about assembling a machine, refining the construction protocols of a autonomous probe / assistant on mars. Every puzzle on object identification, refining the protocols of a police or shop bot. Every puzzle about anything just refining the efficiency of a robot somewhere in the world.
