You are the Druid Uran, student of the Academy,

at least you were a few weeks ago,

After getting the Professor of Illusion's daughter pregnant you were faced with two choices, either stay behind and be thrown in jail, or run away as far as you can to avoid the wrath of the Academy's Reach. You are some seventy miles north of the academy and finally nearing the edge of the Confederacy that the Academy is a part of. If you manage to make it past this border crossing, you'll be safe from the Academy and finally be able to start over.

You've been trekking for the past few hours when you finally see it, a border outpost two guards standing outside. The Outpost is roughly 18 meters tall and has a large gate in the middle to let in traders and travelers. On one side is a door leading into the outpost and on top sits several crossbows to protect the outpost. Most of the outpost besides the base appears to be made of wood. They most likely don't know who you are.

You have three options

1. Simply walk through the outpost
2. Attempt to sneak past the outpost
3. Kill the guards

Just Wild Shape into some variety of local fauna and sneak past. If we're good for slots for a while, a Pass Without Trace might not go amiss either.

You approach the outpost and the two guards check your bags and deem you of no threat. They ask you for any news of the interior and if anything important happened. You simply reply to them that elections are ongoing and nothing of major note has occurred. As you walk through the outpost one of the guards ask if you are a cleric. The other guard holds the first back saying it's no use to ask. The first tells you they have a comrade who was injured by a bear the other night getting firewood and he's in need of medical assistance. What do you do?

1. Tell the truth and help them
2. Tell them you can't help them out

But try not to tell them too much.

What's your stance on changing into Beasts which would logically be of low enough CR but do not have a formal statblock, like a squirrel or a spider?

You decide to tell the truth and help the guard out. They take you upstairs and on the bed lies a sickly man with a broken leg. You put your hand on his leg and cast Cure Wounds. His leg mends back together and his pale face becomes bright once more. His friends pull him up and thank you immensely, they ask you who you are and you tell them you are but a humble traveler. They bask at your powers and give you some gold coins. You bid them farewell and you finally come upon a small hamlet. You stop by an inn and decide to get a few mugs of ale and a night of sleep. You wake up with the worst hangover in the world and stumble downstairs the sun already a few hours until twilight. You decide to go back downstairs and converse with the innkeeper. What do you ask him?

1. How many people come by?
2. Know where a man can find himself a lay?
3. Anybody need some muscle around here?
4. What do you people even do here?
5. Do you know where I can find myself a map or a cartographer of some sort?

Need to know we're going.

Were we not a Druid with Goodberry, I'd say we need to find ourselves some employment.

But since we can survive indefinitely without food and drink as long as we have a slot to spare, we could probably just go wherever the fuck we want and do whatever catches our interest.

How convenient.

"Do you know where I can find myself a map or a cartographer of some sort?" you ask

"Afraid not, you'd have to travel north to werdorp, I know a cartographer who lives there and sells some of the best maps in the whole land. It's about a week travel by foot from here" he replies

"A week's travel, are there any towns in between to rest at?"

"I'm afraid of only two, kleindorp and Ash City"

"Shouldn't a place called Ash City have some sort of cartographer living there?"

"No you git, it may be called Ash City but only thirty five people live there!"

"Alright alright."

The latter in a less insulting tone, like "I'm not staying in this town for long; what of note should I give a look at before I leave?"

"So what's there to do in this fine hamlet?"

"Is that supposed to be a joke?"

"Nope, not at all my good innkeeper"

"Bloody nothing! Why do you think I'm so goddamn rich! Every weekend half the town comes here and gets themselves blitzed!"

"And with your riches?"

"I send my kid down south to school in one of the confederate port cities at fighter college, most I can do to make up for the fact his childhood here was shit."

"Wow what a good father you are, what's he going to do after college?"

"Probably adventure for a few years, join a mercenary company up north and then come back here and marry one of the lasses here."

"Admirable enough I suppose."

"Seeing though as you're an adventurer there's a farmer who needs your help with an infestation he's been having"

"What type of infestation?"

"He doesn't know but it's been festering there for a week, he's probably willing to pay ye a few gold pieces for the trouble instead of waiting for the guards to come from the city."

"Before I go help him do you mind answering a few more questions?"

"Why the hell not!"

"How many people come by and where do they usually go?"

"Most people who come here are traders going from Vend territory into Confederate territory"

"Vend?"

"Yeah Vend is what the call the lands north of the confederacy, lawless and crazy luckily places like this and Werdorp are near the Confederacy so they aren't beholden to so much insanity. Every few months some warlord rises up and tries to conquer the entire vend before he dies to some nefarious plot or something like that."

"That's interesting thanks, and besides the traders anyone else?"

"Sometimes we get mercenaries working for the warlords of the Vend, one time we got a fella just like yourself!"

"A Druid? Or a magician?"

"He didn't mention no magics or druids but called himself an Archon, a trained spellsword.. He was one strange fella I tell ya. He said he was traveling to the Confederacy on family business next thing you know he comes back with two dozen men just like him on horseback riding north."

"That's interesting, anything else?"

"Well besides that several adventurers like yourself came but not as, "grizzled" as you."

"Grizzled?"

"Yeah experienced, powerful, scary. You give off the feeling that you know what you're doing and can handle yourself in a situation. Some of these adventurers were absolute babies in comparison to you and that Archon guy."

"Nice to know, anybody from the Academy?"

"Yeah here and there always blabbering on about some fancy mumbo-jumbo I dunno how to describe."

"That's the academy, anybody looking for anyone else?"

"Yeah a few days ago we got a man looking for a sorcerer like you trying to find out where he was headed, I told him that the last magician who stooped around these parts headed out and came straight back into the confederacy"

"That's fantastic news, do you tell everyone these things?"

"Yea, most adventurers just come in eat and leave, you're one of the few chances I get to talk to someone interesting."

"So where's this man?"

"Alright he's upstairs in the room next to yours"

You travel upstairs and there you see three children a woman and a man cramped in a room. You approach them and explain to them how the innkeeper explained their situation. The man stands up and asks you if you can truly help them. He says he's willing to give you all of the money he has on him if you can clear his basement and house of that nasty infestation. What do you do?

1. Agree
2. Disagree

"It's two dozen of them! They're small little buggers, full of oil and rummaging through my house oh they're terrors!"

You immediately recognize the creatures as boggles, and you decide to agree to the offer having cleared many boggle infestations back at the academy.

He escorts you to his house and opens the gate, a small stone hut is where his family lives and he tells you in the basement is where most of them have taken root. You stand a few meters from his house before entering are there any spells you want to cast or actions you want to take?

You can cast any spells before starting the encounter or change into any wildshape. remember once a spell is used you can't use it anymore until another rest and wildshape lasts for one hour and you cannot cast spells while in it

We're using simplified rules here
>>
>>1359345
So our spells are one-use only, but we can use any or all of them before a rest. And we can only Wild Shape once per rest, but for an hour?

Alright. Let's head in and turn into a Polar Bear once we encounter the boggles.
>>
>>1359367
Should we cast Entangle to slow them down?
>>
>>1359367
>>1359371
discuss this amongst yourselves I'll be back tomorrow at 8 PM EST

come up with a plan of action of what Uran should do.
>>
>>1359371
Depends how bunched up they are when we encounter them, I suppose. Having faced boggles before, our character should know that they aren't really affected by Entangle's difficult terrain, so the main thing we'd be using it for is the restraining effect.

But if there's actually two dozen of them, it might be more efficient to try to funnel them into somewhere that they have to come at us one or two at a time.
>>
>>1359391
I guess you're right.
>>
>>1359345
>>1359371
>>1359391
We should funnel them i agree, or attempt to get them all in a hallway of some sort, and use thorn whip it flaming sphere to erratic them in one go
>>
>>1359345
Honestly, I would prefer to keep the spellslot rule from 5e, as it gives us the versatility that is at the core of Bards, Druids, and Wizards. It also allows us to have our cantrips, which should be our primary form of combat engagement. Plus, it is relatively easy to track.

As far as actions go, since we can only cast spells once a day, I say we go with Entangle and then beat the crap out of the boggles.
