Race and some backstory are tied together, but more in-depth backstory comes after that.

There are many races in the world of Bleach, but only five of them are actually fun to play as. These races are the Soul Reapers of Soul Society, the Quincy of the Living World and Wandenreich, the Hollows of Hueco Mundo and the Living World, the Arrancar of Hueco Mundo, the Visored formerly of the Soul Society and currently of the Living World, and the Fullbringers of the Living World.

Soul Reapers are otherwise normal deceased humans (Pluses) of high spiritual power, trained in the arts of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. All Soul Reapers carry a Zanpakuto, a sword which is shaped by their soul. Soul Reapers are able to purify other Souls and send them to Soul Society or Hell.

Quincy are spiritually aware humans (in the case of the Echt Quincy) or possibly Pluses, who are able to completely destroy a Soul when they kill it. Unless they're a part of the Wandenreich, then, as long as the soul is a Plus, it's sent to the Kaiser of the Quincy.

Hollows are human souls, or aggregate souls, which have been left in the World of the Living or Hueco Mundo for too long, and have lost their "heart," which becomes a mask, unique to the Hollow, which covers its face. Hollows devour souls when they kill them.

Arrancar are Hollows (usually Menos), which have removed their mask, gaining powers akin to Soul Reapers. The average Arrancar is far stronger than even most Seated Soul Reapers. It is unclear what happens when an Arrancar kills another soul.

Visored are similar to Arrancar, in that they possess both Soul Reaper and Hollow powers. However, a Visored is a Soul Reaper which has obtained Hollow powers. Other than this, they are the same as Soul Reapers.

Fullbringers are living humans who are spiritually aware, and are able to use the "souls" of the things around them to enhance their powers to be like those of other spiritually-aware beings. Fullbringers use an item which is dearest to them to enhance their techniques and give them unique powers.

6'8'' Look like a giant hulking brute of a man, which doesn't really help when you've got a giant scare across the ridge of your nose. Soul Reaper, Echt Quincy, Loner Fullbringer, and Living World Hollow all have pretty fleshed-out pre-made options. Xcution Fullbringer, and Menos all had a bit of pre-made content.
