It’s quieter than normal, even the sounds of digging aren’t as they should be. “Get those bodies buried as they come. We need this cleared out,” you order your troops left. You turn to your fallen, the least you can do is bury them separate from who knows how many bodies.
The graves aren’t as deep as you’d like, but they’re deep enough. They dug the holes facing the the sunset and the bodies are unceremoniously tossed in. You say a prayer or two, things you once heard before. Not what you would normally do but it felt appropriate. At one point you inquire why they face the sunset. “So they can escape in the night. Or so the traditions say,” you’re told.
There’s nineteen more civilian dead, mostly from injuries and not enough time to treat them. A few more are in critical condition and the rest are moderate to superficial injuries.
You’ve still got to deal with whatever remains of the rioters, of there are any left. Though you doubt this kind of thing will happen again, you just proved why.
Choose two:
>Start a humanitarian effort for the wounded (Would it humanitarian or Xenoarian?)
>Start repairing damage to your sensor system
>Detain the living rioters
>Punish the whole town
>Other?
