Well, the idea behind it is pretty simple: "What would the gun equivalent of a Chainsaw be?".

After a bit of thinking, I decided it would probably be a Flamethrower, and tried to come up with some reasonable stats for one. This is pretty rough-draft at the moment, but I had fun trying to come up with something that struck a balance between gun and chainsaw. Here's what I came up with for the base stats:

Flamethrower
2H, Range 2-4(Not sure about the range, but I wasn't really sure what would work.
Damage: X
To-hit: 8 or 9+
Jams On: 1(Still not sure whether it would have Ammo or Jams On here, but I'll go with Jam for this)
Weight: 5-6

What do you think? Balanced, or absurdly unbalanced?

I'd say your idea sounds like a pretty solid start! Obviously tweaks would need to be made, but you should ask the QM for his thoughts! I feel like it could be made a potentially very powerful weapon thats shower difficult to use without jamming/burning your team to a crisp. Bonus points if you can find a way to link it to the 80s-medieval-electro-synth theme.

I'm unsure of how to handle the range/number of squares hit, but I think there should be an element of risk to using it too close to your allies similar to using a molotov.

Best I can come up with is, instead of making its attacks hit a specific target, they hit every tile in a cone or a straight line out to a certain distance.

I wanted to bring up an idea I had yesterday that I think got lost in the middle of the dungeon run: some kind of kick action.

It's a neat DS move that would be cool to replicate here, and I think it would fill a useful niche. I noticed when we were playing that often I would attack as many times as my speed would let me and then not having anything great to do with the rest of my AP if I was already standing where I wanted to be standing. It's not like higher speed weapons aren't available, but it would still be cool to have additional options. I imagine kicking would take one AP and just knock an adjacent enemy back one square-- maybe even only human sized enemies. Thoughts?

While we're killing time with new ideas, I was thinking of a neonmancer-specific weapon/gauntlet that results in sacrificing the ability to neon blast or to use another weapon, instead meaning you have to fight exclusively with your fists, with the ability to "neon-charge". Basically some kind of system where you spend an extra AP to give additional neon damage to your unarmed attack.

I'm just realising that in terms of game mechanics this is somewhat similar to the 2H sword, so it's kind of redundant, if kinda cool. Maybe +2 damage on a 6 and 1 damage to self with "neon-overload" roll of 1?

KICK should could be easily possible to replicate and use as a move, and it's also easy enough to keep track of. Plus it might allow you to do a few fancy tactical things and use the terrain a litte more.

As it is right now you

And some way of kicking someone away or doing something clever might allow you to knock people about.

ALso you have a STR score now! So you can make [Kick] just be = if more STR than HP of target, they get knocked back a step.

this means giant monsters and such won't be kicked around.

Also, the moog keytar seems to be pretty much marginally better than the greatsword in pretty much every way. Plus it can be used for sweet jams.

I was thinking about that too. It would have offer some advantage over two attacks, but that advantage doesn't necessarily have to be in damage output.

It could do more than 2x the damage of a normal attack.

It could do 2x damage and also do knockback, or maybe sap an AP from the enemy or inflict some kind of status effect.

It could do 2x standard damage or even 1.5x standard damage, and be a lot more accurate.
