The year is 2055. What you and I know as the United States no longer exists. A civil war has divided the land into three separate nations. The war was ended by the signing of the North American Peace Agreement in 2039, allowing each territory to become independent and establishing peace and free commerce. However, tensions have been rising between the nations, and thoughts of war are beginning to come to mind. The leaders of the nations will have to work incredibly carefully to preserve the peace and prevent war. Despite their serious disagreements, each nation depends on one another for certain natural resources, so causing a war between any of the nations, means no trade between them. This could pose a serious risk for the nations’ economies. In the end, only one of the nations will come out on top, which one will it be?

Also disregard Hawaii and Alaska, the United States sold them to China in 2027 to pay of its debts.

In this episode, we will focus on some lore behind the Confederate Republic of North America. Its constitution and government structure, except for some law changes to allow for slave labor. The CRNA's biggest export is Liquid Natural Gas, a highly efficient fuel used for powering cars, planes, and other things that are powered by petroleum in present day.

Suggestions:
>Choose the name for the President of the CRNA
>Suggest ideas for a system of slavery. Is it racially charged? Are slaves sold and bought on the market? Are there rules for how humane you must treat your slaves?
>>
West Virginia would never not be a part of confederacy! It defines the mason dixon line
>>
>>1160873
The map was not necessarily made with things like that in mind. It's more of a visual representation of the general territory of each nation. Also the idea of states is gone. Each nation has a centralized government that legislates over its territory.
>>
>>1160886
I don't think people would like any of that. Are you from america? There'd be riots in the streets.
>>
>>1160855
DISREGARD THIS POST. I have a better idea, what if each anon choses an alignment, and decisions made by each nation can only be done by each nation can only be made by anons who chose that nation?
>>
>>1160893
Non peaceful protest is a big problem for each nation, but especially in the RNA, where violent protests are a big problem and citizens are advised to stay indoors at night. Violent protesters are arrested by police and will eventually be exported to the CRNA to become slaves. The fact that the RNA government sells criminals into slavery also causes more protests.
>>
>>1160855
It's kinda hard to imagine slavery working again, since the big problem is that it steals jobs.
But if it was going to work:
>True Slavery for Criminals and Indentured Servitude for the Poor and Homeless.

>Slaves must work for their victim/ victim's family or the Church.

>The Poor can offer themselves as Indentured Servants to receive a less than minimum wage.

>The Homeless can be arrested for vagrancy and auctioned by the local government into indentured servitude for the same pay.

>All Indentured Servants must be released after seven years in accordance with the Year of Jubilee. But are free to renew their contracts.
>>
>>1160915
(cont.) There are things that could be done to fix this problem.

Options:
>Introduce a bill to ban the exportation of criminals as slaves. (Upsetting the CRNA by taking away slave imports)
>Keep the system so that the RNA can capitalize on the slave economy of the CRNA. (Upsetting the protesters and preventing peace on the streets.)
>>
>>1160919
I'd like to add that since such a large portion of the south is african american, they'd be pretty against the entire idea.
>>
>>1160919
We'll go with this. Convicted criminals will serve times as slave laborers, not in prisons. The amount of time a criminal is a slave depends on what crimes they were convicted of.
>>
>>1160936
Keep in mind that this system of slavery is not necessarily racially charged. There are African American slave owners too. The aristocracy buys slave criminals from the government who will work on plantations, domestic jobs, but mostly natural gas mines/refineries. Liquid natural gas is the #1 export of the CRNA and their economy is heavily dependent on it.
>>
Rumors have begun to hit the CRNA regarding the possibility of a law banning slave exports from RNA. Tensions between the two nations are beginning to brew. Violent Protests continue to be a major problem in RNA. Meanwhile in the RCA, the economy is hitting a boom with the newly discovered Hydro-Nuclear Fuel Cell technology. Hundreds of thousands of jobs are being created to mass produce hydro-nuclear fuel cells to export to the other two nations. If war were to break out between the CRNA and RNA, striking an alliance with the RCA would be key in defeating their opponent. This causes the power of the RCA to start to rise at a faster rate than the others, and they are on their way to becoming the most powerful nation in North America.

Decision:
>Introduce a bill in the RNA to ban the exportation of criminals as slaves. (Upsetting the CRNA by taking away slave imports)
>Keep the system so that the RNA can capitalize on the slave economy of the CRNA. (Upsetting the protesters and preventing peace on the streets.)
>>
>>1161021
>>Keep the system so that the RNA can capitalize on the slave economy of the CRNA. (Upsetting the protesters and preventing peace on the streets.)
This is the obvious choice for the elites on both sides.
Soros Jr. will surely find some way to get rid of the protesters or distract them with a new social justice issue.
>>
>>1160948
That's not my point.

Why would an entire race of people, who have white last names from their grandparents being former slaves, advocate slavery in any form? This is some chinese shit
>>
>>1161033
They don't necessarily have to advocate it for it to be implemented. The lower class are mostly indentured servants who work for the landowners in return for food, shelter, and other life necessities. As you can imagine, they work strict hours and cannot make time to vote for elected officials, and if the elite landowners are the ones voting, they will be the ones who elect officials who advocate for this system. Which allows the elitists to stay in control of the CRNA's economy.
>>
>>1161031
The RNA senate has voted on the issue and the law will not be passed. This ensures prolonged stability of both the CRNA and RNA economies, but this severely upsets the protesters. They begin to start organized rebellious groups who carry out organized crime for their cause. This includes murdering of police officers and attempted assassinations of government officials. The demand for more police officers to protect the innocent citizens of RNA creates many job openings. In order to afford to pay the large numbers of police officers a decent salary, an increase on taxes is implemented.

/thread for tonight, new episode coming tomorrow.
>>
>>1161033
Because they get tired of criminals and freeloaders just like everybody else.
Blacks in the South can be very religious and conservative. So if you phrase it as punishment/rehab for sinners and remind them that the bible condones slavery, then they'll jump right on that band-wagon.
>>
>>1161169
That's retarded. New Testament condemns slavery, which is what most Christians follow. Especially the bible belt mega churches where everything is about forgiveness.

Thread idea is neat but forcing slavery into it just doesn't make sense in the modern world.
>>
Could do something like the rich people in the CRNA turning the rednecks and poor people into wage slaves or indentured servants to pay off their "debts". Kinda like the coal miners with company stores and all that, it'd work really well with the liquid natural gas thing
>>
>>1161239
This could work well if California was communist aligned. It would give a reason for conflict, kinda like how Stalin justified the URRS' imperialism. Also makes sense since they control most of the pacific coastline, which let's them trade with the eastern bloc
>>
>>1160816
This quest is bullshit for even suggesting that California would branch out of it's personal shithole, much less get anybody else to refer to themselves as "California".
>>
>>1162108
I think he was partly inspired by fallout or something.
>>
>>1162108
I'm just irked because Cascadia has been a thing for such a long time.

OP seems to more have a political axe to grind then to have put any actual thought into the back story.

Like the Web comic SSDD pretty much does the same thing about 2 years in, but a hell of a lot better. Same fucking factions and everything.
>>
>>1160816
>cali having that much influence
>midwest siding with cali or the NE

kek
>>
>>1164531
>>1162108

Well, it's either that or get sandwiched between two economical powerhouses(California's " personal shithole" is worth $2.496 trillion in GDP annually, New York is $1.44 trillion) with compatible cultures and reason to ally with each-other, while being supported by only one (Texas, $1.648 trillion), that has a modest lead over New York and gets beaten right over the head by California.

Be modestly lived and conservative, or filthy rich and liberal. Choices, choices.
>>
>>1160816
>implying that most of the rural areas of these states would have anything to do with the cities
>implying that the country would not be split into different large cities and the more rural areas that they could control via armies
>implying that guerrilla warfare would not take place against these armies by the rural populace
>implying that the cities would not staff deserted farmland and resources with criminals and captured discontents from these guerrilla actions

OP, I've fixed the premise of your quest for you. You'll probably have a few extra factions. However, if the US were to break apart, this is probably more realistic. Of course, it would also likely be extremely dangerous outside the cities, which would likely all be walled in affairs, doubtlessly done in imitation of the Great Wall of Mexico.
>>
>>1165614
Anybody outside of Cali on the west coast that doesn't hate Cali with a passion is most likely from Cali. Left or Right, we all agree Cali can eat a dick.
>>
>>1165614

And California would starve without imports. Compatible cultures? I don't think you've met many people from the mid west, they don't like you people at all. Difference between you people and we Texans is we are perfectly capable of being independent while you rely on other states.

>Be modestly lived and conservative, or filthy rich and liberal.

You're quite delusional about that.
>>
just wanted to come back and say that california should be nuked

>>1168070
now now anon, lets not get carried away here. Only San Diego, LA, San Fran., Silicon Valley, and possibly Sacramento need nuked.

Anybody who lives in that state is responsible for letting it get as bad as it is, whether it be through action or inaction.
They are pretty much irredeemable.
