You are a Water of a watery, lush world. The intelligent creatures that live on your world are frail and small compared to you, but love you none the less. They know of your presence, as you make yourself known every evening. Moving the stars and two blue moons around. They build altars in your name and they love you, and you love them. You are powerful in one way; your passive actions are what drive your planet. They are primitive.

You are an unknowable blackness that surround this planet, and it is the dawn of a new day.
What do you do?
>>
>>114783
Tell them the Truth.
>>
>>114789
You cannot tell them the truth!

You have no means of doing so that they would understand out right.
And what truth would that be, anyway? That they are just on a small watery rock that is forever in danger from things beyond their comprehension?

No! That would devastate them.
What else do you do?
>>
>>114799
Observe them until we have cause to act.
>>
>>114811
Dubs has issued a good order, you observe them.
You watch them complete many orbits around their sun, and begin to see them rise in complication.

They're cities now break the water's surface, in long poles that hold water. How clever of them. They make their homes out of coral, and cultivate it in such a way as to grow their buildings.

What do you do?
>>
>>114818
I become them, all of them.

I am he as you are he as you are me
And we are all together
>>
>>114881
You cannot do that, you lack that ability!
You can only affect things passively, letting time be your ally.

Oh, they have just completed a statue in your honor as the first thing to break the surface of the water NOT made of Coral. It's made out of the blue stone that lies on the bottom of the oceans. It's beautiful. You need to reward them.

>What do you do?
>>
>>114919
Retreat from their view. They do not need us.
>>
>>114934
They cannot see you during the day, or see you at all! But they can feel your presence, and they know you will never leave them. You love them, and they love you. That statue is what they believe you are at that very moment of it's creation, which is why it looks like it's idea changed at every moment of it's sculpting.

>What do you do?
>>
>>114944
Listen.

What do they say?
>>
>>114996
>Listen
They speak amongst themselves, about the seaweed crops growing plentiful this season and that winter will be more bearable because of it. They are one of the few of their species that does not migrate to the equator every winter, they instead choose to weather out the cold. But you know that they will die if they keep it up like this. But you cannot actively tell them too. But then, you get an idea.

One child is drawn to the statue, and although she must use a sponge every few minutes to wet herself, she is curious enough to touch the statue. There is awe in her large, three black disc eyes that glitter they grey and blue clouds from a sky she has never seen before.

>What do you whisper to this child?
>>
>>115017
This too shall pass.
>>
>"This too, shall pass."
These words will echo with this little one for all of her ears, for she has heard the voice of her unknown God. When asked, later in life, why she started a movement to bring her people closer and closer to land, she would simply ask, in her elderly, decreased state.
"This too," she said, gesturing to the grand cities that littered the ocean floor. "Shall pass."

>You have set them on the road to land, on the road to survival. What shall you do now?
>>
>>115061
Tell half of them to stay in the water.
The other half must reach the stars.
>>
There is no need, the nomadic ones will survive in the water, but the ones that have made these small cities will try to reach for the stars.

So you decide to observe them, and watch them grow closer and closer to shore. Sure enough they begin to try and grow their cities on the beaches. It has... Less then the desired effects; they learn that the coral cannot survive on land, and without shelter, neither will they.
There is a farmer living on a reef close to the shore. He is thinking on a way to solve this problem. He thinks of this as he sleeps, and as he sleeps, this is the only time you can speak to him. As his people have little in the way of imagination, when you speak to them in their dreams it is always through sounds, emotions, feelings.

>What do you say?
>>
>>114799
Just tell them the truth you fucking nazi
>>
Will be back tomorrow. )
>>
>>115090
A wet splash, the sound of children swimming in a shallow pool, the sensation of light filtering from overhead, and the heat of fire and smell of smoke.
>>
>>115207
>tell them the truth
Never! We will protect them from the cold cold truth!
>>115815
Nice idea.
And: 'The sensation of eating roasted meat from land animals.' Hm, tasty.
Is being on or near land even desirable though? Water-filled spaceships sound nice too.

>>115090
How do the sentients look like anyway? Three eyes and... legs, fins?

The idea of being a planet is a cool quest idea! Trying to speak with the natives, having social effects, genetic mutations... sounds a bit like the game 'Spore'.
>>
>>117543
You are not the planet itself, but it's spirit. Like an astral projection of it. They cannot see you or hear you directly, but they can feel your influence. They see you move the stars across the sky, I.E. Rotate, and they thank you when the warm waters come.

They are aquatic, with three disc like eyes and long narrow heads, two long protuberances that function as lips and mouths. They have four arm-like muscles that extend in a symmetrical pattern around the body. The body looks like a long vase, with a long neck and somewhat wide bottom. Below this bottom is the foot in which they use to move on the ocean floor, though connected to each arm is sort of like fins that they use to swim through the water. Think of a Jellyfish.)

>>115815
>The children are at play, but they do not smell fire, for they do not understand what it is or how to make it. These are but the third generation of children to live on land, or rather on the beach.
>It has been 500,000 years
These people live in shallow homes close to the water's edge, with their homes allowing water to come in from the low tides, and to flood when its high tide

They have developed weak lungs.
They have sandstone buildings.
You are proud of your people.
>What do you do?
>>
>>119075
Send them the flash of lightning, the sound of thunder, a sense of peace and wonder. The gift we send when the sky touches the earth. And not least of all, love.
>>
What a very calming and beautiful thread you have made OP. I like it.
>>
>>119075
Can we send them rain to make it possible for the people to go further in land to explore - without them drying up?

>>121354
>flash of lightning >sense of peace
Lightning peace? :)
>>
>>121845
I like this idea.

I suggest a climatic change for the surrounding land: Seasonal, and very long monsoons, long enough to grow crops and explore the land and build shelter.

I think that would help them thrive.
Love this idea by the way
>>
>>121845
Anon, we are electric love.

But heavy seasonal monsoons sound great, too.
>>
>>121862
i second this
>>
>>122584
Thirded

>It has been 550,000 years since your people attained intelligence, and have been guided to explore land.

You have slowly influenced them to help you change the world so they may better survive in it.
You have helped them too, by pulling your world just slightly closer to the small white star in your system of planets.
This slight increase in heat increases the temperature from 65*F to 67*F, which leads to more frequent rainshowers and monsoons.

>Your people praise their God, and you are happy
>You love your people

They have built long canals to pull seawater from the oceans, and have built homes of geometry to fit their new surroundings. Wavy and bulbous structures that were their homes for centuries have given way to more stable rectangular designs, with some oddities.
>Their Portal is cut into the vertices of their structures, with their roofs held up by archways reminiscent of their ocean-bound cousins.
>Their Queen remains in the Ocean, but makes visits into land to show her people she still cares for them.
>They love their Queen
>She loves her people
>You are happy
>They are happy
----
>It has been 550,000 years since your people attained intelligence, and have been guided to explore land. They have built small settlements in geometric symmetrical patterns, and harvest or farm only what they need
>They are strangers to this land, they should not overstep their boundaries

You see a small crowd of your people surrounding a long, tall man. He is speaking of something, but some words are unknown to you.
>What does he say?
>>
>>124113
Incorrection to be corrected. It should say at the top "510,000 years'. I put 550,000 instead. My apologies. )
>>
>>124113
The tall man speaks about their God and what it would want from them:

"Remember to treat your family with respect, and your neighbours like your family, never hurt one another,"

Something that sounds objectively good like that.

Also, how do the sea dwellers view the people on the land? Is everything nice and stable?
>>
>>124228
That man is a good man. You are sure to thank him for his drive to tell the people some things you would like them to do, but not expect of them.
>You do not want to interfere with the will they were born with.

>He will know of your presence, for one day he will be the first to discover that there are other worlds beyond their own.

Next you observe another crowd, this time they are pelting one of their own with a strange blue fruit. It splatters on impact, and releases a rusty odor into the air.
What do you do?
>>
Make an enraged burst of lighting near them sending the message "please stop that in the name of God"
>>
>>124811
>Create a burst of lighting
You cannot do that, there are no stormclouds in the sky! But you wish to do that, somewhere above them without striking them. As the clouds begin to muster above them, you peak in to what they are saying.

They are saying he is a criminal, that is he scum and he must pay the price.
>Listen, what do they say?
>>
>>125304
They say the man has desecrated an altar of their God. But when you search the altars, you find all of them in perfect condition. As you listen, you realize that they are heretics, worshippers of a false god, one of death and wrath.
>>
>>125425
As it turns out, the man had desecrated an altar - THEIR altar.
You are a fair Watcher, and you want them to express themselves in anyway they please. But you have never seen them punish someone just for their beliefs in something else.

In fact, the fact that these people worship something entirely different from you is rather mind-boggling. You never asked to be worshiped, but didn't mind when it came to that. Now that they have something to actually believe in, the idea leaves you confused.

The storm clouds are now overhead, and you let your lightning do the talking. With a tremendous thunderclap you shake the sky with your voice. But it is indecipherable to them, for while they have ears they cannot hear you.
But they know that you are displeased, and they stop throwing those strange fruits at the man.

A little girl wanders over to her, and helps him up. It was his daughter.
>550,000 years have passed since your people attained intelligence, and have been guided to explore land. And now that they have become intelligent enough they have created their own gods

>What should you do?
>>
>>125499
Communicate with some to convince them that they must explore the world.
>>
bless your own being with your powers and make him a prophet of your word, like jesus
>>
>>125778
>You send messages to your people while you sleep, giving them visions of the world beyond their little camp by the sea

With the yearly monsoons and daily rain, it doesn't take one to guess that much of the land has become flooded to some degree. Areas that were once deserts have become forested, areas that were once forested have become rainforests or jungles. And forests that are close to lakes, rivers, or oceans have become damp, marshy land. Perfect for your people to explore with relative safety.

>550,050 years have passed, and a party of like-minded individuals have decided to venture out into the world to see what's out there. They are given provisions for one year, and are given an Alchemist, a Healer, some Trident Throwers and several academics and scholars, who are to record all that they find on the obelisks they write on.

>They are to return in one year.
>They venture off into the wilderness, and are hopeful that the Watcher will protect them. You hope you will.
>Their first day out is a blessed one, with heavy rains to wash over their lucid, flexible bodies and to provide nourishment for the aching gills. It is sometimes difficult to breath in this oxygen-rich environment with their small lungs.

>Three days pass, and what happens to the group?
>>
>>135465
They are taken in their sleep by a group of worshippers of an evil God, to be sacrificed
