The future: a time of unimaginable opportunity. Time travel was discovered in the late 2050s due to a freak teleportation experiment. Since then, people from around the globe have been eager to traverse the sea of time, but few have dared to do so.

The limit for this time travel is around 100 million years, where the earth is still recognizable and life somewhat resembles that of today, but with much more extreme adaptations. This is where our story shall be told.

>100 million years: Hothouse World
Most of the earth has been submerged due to rising sea levels, creating shallow seas, massive brackish swamps, and tropical rainforests. What was northeastern Asia (due to a collision with Australia) is now the largest mountain range on earth, even surpassing the Himalayas of the Holocene.

>Bengal Swamp
Ehat was southeastern Asia has now become part of a massive brackish swamp, spanning almost every corner of what was Asia. Due to its brackish nature, the creatures that inhabit it are from both marine and terrestrial origins.

>Great Plateau
What was northeastern Asia has become a massive plateau. Due to its rather remote location and immense height, few creatures can live here; even so, some still cling to life trough extreme adaptation or coevolution.

>Shallow Seas
What was eastern Asia has now been replaced by shallow seas, teeming with new life unlike anything before or since. Many of the niches utilized by coastal fish have since become occupied by new strange creatures.

>Antarctic Rainforest
What was Antarctica has now shifted to a much more hospitable position just below the equator. In that time, the once frozen continent has become a tropical paradise, but everything is not as it seems. This new Eden is a battleground.

You are one of many "Joes," people who have been selected for experimental time travel (basically guinea pigs). Due to a bug in your teleporter, you are unable to return to your time for around 30 days while the machine repairs itself. You have to survive until then in order to complete your mission, and be celebrated as a great explorer.

Here's a map of all the locations in question.

You are armed with nothing more than a standard worker's uniform, your buggy teleporter, and a notepad.

Pick a location and we can get started.

Whoah. Nice rewrite, OP.
>>
>>1082530
Not sure if that's meant to be a genuine compliment, or an insult that flew over my head, but I'll take the former.
I've been here for too long

It was genuine.

I guess this. I think fresh water and poisonous shit will be that hardest things. At least we can cover ourselves in putrid mud to hide!

Any ideas on how to get fresh water that won't kill us? Evaporation would be ideal I suppose, depending on conditions and resources.
>>
>>1082909
If I'm not mistaken, the fresh water comes from further inland. Perhaps there are a few isolated streams here and there.
Also, no worries about cover, most of the animals on land either don't care or are territorial. It's the water you have to worry about.

>Bengal Swamp

Potential name: Joe Jack Dandy Boy, a man hoping to get some caveman poontang just so he can finally say he's fucked every bitch there ever was, but overshot by a couple million years and now has to deal with Jurassic Park shit. Oh, yeah, it's also a hundred billion fucking degrees and he's in a fucking death swamp. Will Joe Jack make it back to the land of Milk and Pussy or will he just end up some fossilized dino shit?
>>
>>1083192
>dinosaurs
>Jurassic Park
Not to burst your bubble, but it's meant to bee 100 million years in the future, so no dinos.
Hope you like turtle soup and seafood.
>>
>>1084637
It's possible that he wanted to go 100 million years back but accidentally went 100 million years forward.
>>
>>1084683
But the machine only travels forward in time, and can only travel as far back as the first machine being built. This was a planned mission that went awry.
>>
>>1084688
It is not said anywhere that the machine can only travel forward in time though, so it is possible that he could go to the past.
>>
>>1084812
Nah, I'm OP. Time works like a fast-moving river, and you're in a paddleboat. You can't really paddle against the current, but you can attach a lifeline to certain point in the river; this is the first time machine. The lifeline can extend indefinitely, but you are always holding on to your end; that's your portable time machine.

>Day 1
Our "Joe" named Mike has woken up to the smell of stagnant water, somewhat dazed and confused. Then he remembers what happened; the machine short-circuted, leaving him stranded in a completely different time period, unlike anything he'd ever seen. He found himself in what appeared to be a large swamp of some sort. The air was filled with a variety of noises, both familiar and unfamiliar.

Is this a write in prompt or is there more coming?
>>
>>1086022

>>
>>1085585
Let's try to find the sources of the familiar sounds first.

Pressured by his own morbid curiosity, he heads in the direction of one of the most recognizable sounds in a swamp: bird calls. After a bit of sidestepping across vegetation and wading through some of the shallow water, he has reached a clearing. And sure enough, there they were; birds as far as the eye could see. Egrets or cranes perhaps? But something just felt off about them, they seemed...bigger. Bigger than any he's seen; almost the size of a man.
>>
>>1087294
Are you sure you're OP?

Anyway, lets investigate more sounds.
>>
>>1087294
Is there a tall tree we can climb to look for landmarks etc.

Maybe we can get water by tapping holes in trees and seeing if anything liquidy comes out, that's a thing right?

Also OP use a name or trip, and use a write-in prompt.

He tried to find a suitable tree to climb so that he could get a better vantage point, but was unable to find one. Since was going to be here a while, he decided to jot down a few observations on his notepad. Maybe he could publish his findings in a journal. Before he could get too engrossed in his writing, he could hear rumbling in the forest behind him. He slowly turned around to see what it was, and was somewhat horrified. It looked like a creature of some bygone era, and it was nearly the size of an elephant.

Decision:
>run

>keep your distance

Even though he had a strong urge to stand his ground, his curiosity got the better of him. He decided to keep his distance and observe this scaly titan.

Once it came closer, he could see some of the strange details, such as large shell-like structures around the forelimbs and hind limbs, as well as an armored head attached to a rather loose, saggy neck. Its legs were thicker than some the trees it was walking past. With every step it took, a squishy thud followed.

It appeared that creature was headed for a large tree in the clearing. As it began to strip the tree of its leaves, he decided to jot down a few more notes. Once it finished, it set its sights on another tree, the one he was standing next to. As it began its short trek to its next meal, it noticed him. Somewhat perplexed by his unfamiliar appearance, it stopped and somewhat lowered its head to study him.

He felt a twinge of fear as the behemoth stared down at him, but he managed to remain calm. Thinking that the creature might be friendly, he offered it a large branch from the tree. Instead of spooking, like many of the large animals of his time, the beast grasped some of the leaves from the branch, and tore them off.

Follow it home so we can steal its eggs. And eat them!
>>
>>1106652
Let's just follow it and see if it eats any fruits.
Fruits that are edible for animals are 'usually' edible for humans too.

Maybe see how he responds to touching, to see if we can ride on his back.
