Hopefully, they did not, but a long aged rivality between the clan of Boristed and a pack of Orcs, sculpted your wishes. Alongside the proper chance to marry some tall lady, not a highborn one, just a really tall lady.

You walk out of the "Cornian Mining Entrepreneurship !" into a mostly deserted area.
Even if the Maëvian Empire is located on an old seabed which rose in older times, the "City" - it is mostly an outpost for kobolds, miners, caravans and some Orcs - is located on a barren soil, where the least vegetation can grow.

As you begin to walk to the "city" borders, mostly made out of mud, you see a stuck caravan. As you approach, you see more precisely two smaller than you individuals crying out for help.

"By the Gods, who can save us from our misery ?
-Yes, who can save Brik&Brok ?
-Who can be rewarded by a single croissant, made from the best furnance in the whole Empire ?

As you stop your steps, one of them points at you :
"Is it you, magnificient bearded stranger ? Will you save the best artisans in the Empire ?
-Will you taste our brilliant croissant ?
-It is but your choice !

You shrug at them, thinking about it. Meanwhile in your reflexion time, you can hear them asking themselves :
"I don't think he likes croissants.
-Maybe he wants to be payed by other means.
-You mean... ?
-I mean that he wants to hitch a ride to somewhere, which we haven't decide yet.
