Detective Shepard, a canine with a mean demeanor and a hardline policy, returns to duty after being suspended during an investigation involving the beating of Thomas Redlake in an interrogation room. Obviously, the Detective was acquitted of all charges.
There's no denying it anymore: The tension that brews between civilians and policemen, crooked cops that infect the entire Police Department, and now a serial killer turns the streets of Woodmire into a hunting ground.
Detective Shepard is on the case, all while trying to dodge accusations of being dirty.
The next post will begin the quest.

Gun
Mouth
Trigger
The train ride to work always have to suck. The lousy seats, the noisy kids in the back, the old weasel who decided to use Shepard's shoulder as a pillow, they all form together to make the perfect ingredient for a particularly terrible morning.
>>1030761
Looks like that won't work, mate.
>>1030791
Stare out the window at the passing scenery
>>1030799
Reload
Repeat
>>1030849
The trees and the various of shrubbery makes up for the troubles, actually. Shepard always found solace looking at greenery.
>>1030859
Shepard figures that trying to blow his brains out on the train would be counter-intuitive, given that it's his first day back to work.
It's tempting, but Shepard has more common sense than that.
>>1030960
Draw a dick on the old weasel's face and then work on you little black book with you to-kill list in it.
>>1031027
Shepard realized that the old weasel was drooling and was quick to jot down the weasel's name in the little black book.
>>1031103
It wasn't too long until Shepard reached his destination, Woodmore Street. Home sweet home.
Enter the POLICE STATION?
>>1031131
Yeah let's clock in or whatever
>>1031131
Go straight to the break room and grab shitty percolator coffee and yesterday's leftover donut. But not a chocolate one. Choc is bad for doggos.
>>1031131
Read the message written on the sidewalk.
>>1031166
Shepard looked down at the graffiti in front of the POLICE STATION.
...
Most of it are just gang tags and slurs towards the police. Not much to gain form here.
>>1031141
Clocked and loaded.
>>1031142
Upon moving straight into the BREAK ROOM, Shepard acquired DOGGO SAFE DOUGHNUT and SHITTY PERCOLATOR COFFEE!
The coffee is lukewarm. Ugh.
>>1031193
Head to your desk and read the case report
>>1031244
This but give "'ey baby" eyes to all the fine cop ladies
>>1031267
To be frank, Shepard didn't give a damn about the rest of the lady cops. He had his eye on Penny, the Secretary, for quite some time now.
>>1031297
"How's my favorite pink scribble today? Miss me?"
"I-I-I... uh..." Penny stammers. Penny has always been a sort of anxious woman. "You have a case, on your desk."
>>1031244
After giving it a glance over, Shepard notices a few things that made him do a double take at the words in the file.
A murder on Heatherdawn Ave?
Heatherdawn is where the suburbs are, a neighborhood that overlooks the poverty that is Woodmore.
The victim is Robert O'Neal, a white collar businessman tiger, super rich.
According to the file, his wife and kids were gone at Gem Beach, so he was home alone.
Witnesses claim a 'monster' leaving the scene.
>>1031334
Exclaim loudly that you have a case to solve and give shawty a kiss before sprinting to the crime scene
>>1031334
Check up with our old buddy
>>1031416
Right?
>>1031346
>>1031416
>>1031355
Shepard does just that, exclaiming boldly and planting a kiss on Penny's cheek ("wha-!!!") before racing off to Heatherdawn Ave, which wasn't necessarily that far.
Upon reaching the house, there are a few notable things besides the horrible pixel art. The door was taped up with POLICE TAPE.
The left bottom window was smashed.
The right bottom window is ajar slightly, there is paw prints on the window sill.
The door is in perfect condition, no signs of forced entry. Perhaps Robert knew the killer? Well, it's not like we can ask the poor bastard.
There's not much evidence to be had outside of the luxurous house. Enter?
>>1031489
Shit yeah, smash through that annoying tape. Presumably the nerds have gone over the scene already.
>>1031489
Command that someone get these paw prints sent to the lab
>>1031500
Or that assume nerds did job
>>1031489
Well I'm afraid that kinda depends on if you actually have permission to investigate this place, or if you'll have to get a permit.
>>1031521
Detective Shepard is too hardboiled to worry about consequences of his actions in this investigation! His badge is permit he needs.
>>1031506
>>1031502
Shepard made a mental note to make the nerds do their jobs.
>>1031500
Shepard tears through the tape easily and ingresses in the house.
>>1031547
I wanna see some details on that body... For... Reasons
>>1031547
Yeah are the wounds savage tears, precise cuts, invisible? Check has office for if he had any important meetings scheduled around the time of death.
>>1031547
look for where your arms went
>>1031549
>>1031563
No cuts at all, it looks like he was struck down with blunt force. A bat? a blackjack? He's really bloody.
>>1031602
WONDER at how good of a rug he would make.
>>1031600
Oh, here's one! It's saying to focus, Shepard! You're letting your imagination derail you!
>>1031610
Shepard's faith in his subconscious is dwindling.
>>1031622
examine the window paw prints
>>1031649
Shepard went to the windowsill and opened it further. He looked over the paw print that's in the dust, but he can't quite make out what species the paw's owner might be - it's big and roundish. Not quite like a bear, but getting there.
>>1031675
Locate his wife for questioning
>>1031682
While we wait for the forensic nerds
>>1031682
The wife and kids are at the station. Perhaps we should finish our reconnoiter and then go and question the wife.
A good start would be his office. This kind of death seems to be either the work of a mobster or a wronged business partner.
Maybe there's any important meetings scheduled around his time of death?
>>1031694
Check the desk for a schedule or letters or anything that stands out. (Seems like I'm the only one here and I'm leaving soon, so maybe wait for a more active time? I appreciate your effort.)
>>1031725
Shepard probably need at least two degrees in business before he can come anywhere close to solving what the hell this mess of numbers and code words are.
Shepard will take them in as EVIDENCE. Maybe Penny will know more about this.
(aye, thanks)
(aye, i can't stay for long either. i won't archive it or whatever, but i'll wait patiently.)
>>1031755
Check to see if anything has been taken/ransacked
[loving the quest so far]
>>1031923
Shepard searches around and realizes he has yet to find Robert's wallet.
So a mugging gone wrong? Done in his own home? Nothing else was taken?
Shepard doesn't buy it.
>>1032145
can we look around inside for anything that might have been used as the murder weapon, failing that maybe check around outside for clues
>>1032153
There's no murder weapon in sight, nor is there anything that looks out of the ordinary outside. The only thing that looks out of place is Shepard's loitering.
>>1032154
Question the neighbours
>>1032161
As it turns out, the nieghbors are unwilling to speak to your kind.
>>1032168
Go back to question the wife.
Device change, no panel for this post.
>>1032200
Shepard egresses the CRIME SCENE and exits Heatherdawn Ave. He ingress into the POLICE STATION to find a shaken and seemingly broken tigress holding onto her young cubs tightly.
>>1032228
Let's start easy: ask them what they were doing at the time of the murder.Does this mean DaemonQuest is kill?
>>1032272
Yes, but introduce ourselves first
>>1032272no, it's still alive.
>>1032319
Because he's a cop.
>>1032281
After introducing himself, Shepard made it very clear that he is going to find who did this with their help.
Firstly, he inquires about her whereabouts at the time of death.
The Widow, Dolorosa O'Neal, shakily answers Shepard's question.
"W-well... the c-cubs and I were at Gem Beach, at our s-summer house. R-robert had business to do. "
Shepard inquires if Robert's been acting odd lately, paranoid-ish behavior.
"N-no! He's the sweetest guy anyone will ever meet!"
>>1032343
What kind of business was he doing?
>>1032364
Supporting
So the Widow has an alibi, kids to confirm.
>>1032364
>>1032512
"Oh, I don't know his business," Dolorosa quickly replies, her voice perking up quickly before dropping back to a small voice.
>Truth
>Doubt
>Lie
>>1032562
>Lie
she responded too quickly.
>>1032614
>Lie
"Do you want your cubs to be motherless too? Because if you don't give me the truth right now, I'm going to throw you in jail!"
"How dare you!" Dolorosa flared up at Shepard's accusation. "I just lost the father to my cubs and you threaten me and call me a liar?! Typical policemen! I demand some proof of this!"
Shepard turns to his BLACK BOOK of case notes and flips to the green bookmark.
EVIDENCE:
>Suspicious Business letters
>Windowsill paw prints
>Cracked window
>Cause of Death
>RECANT ACCUSATION
>>1033177
I don't think she did it but she knows some shit
>>1033392
Here's some things to consider:
Shepard already accused her of lying. He must submit evidence to support his claim, otherwise Dolorosa will talk her way out of it. Enter the wrong evidence, then Shepard will lose the opportunity to question her about Robert's business. Choose wisely.
On the other hand...
He can RECANT ACCUSATION (no penalties) if he thinks he doesn't have the sufficient evidence to prove she's lying and choose the DOUBT option to doubt her statement.
Doubting her statement can be very useful if Shepard knows a sus' is not telling the truth but has no evidence to support an accusation. HOWEVER, if a Sus' IS lying and Shepard either fails to detect it or fails to find the evidence in a CRIME SCENE to debunk a lie - they will talk their way out of Shepard's accusation.
>>1033443
Letters then
>>1033562
Supporting
>>1033443
The letters weren't hers, no evidence she knew about them. We should recant accusation.
>>1034960
Recant, and mention its strange that she has no idea what it is her husband does for a living. [doubt that bitch...wait cat, uh...queen?]
>>1034985
>>1034525
>RECANT ACCUSATION
"Sorry, it's all part of the procedure; you know how it is,"
>>1034985
>Doubt
"You know that's not the full truth, Dolorosa, it's strange how you live in a nice house but you don't even know what your husband does for a living,"
"Mmm..." Dolorosa shrank before giving her answer. "Robert works security for Don Grande, but other than that he's just an office monkey for this big oil company."
>>1035277
What do we (Shepard) know about Don Grande?
>>1036542
A lot, actually.
Don "Grande" Pentito Montone is a BOSS in the GENOVICE FAMILY, one of the five BOSSES in the city of Woodmire.
The GENOVICE FAMILY is mostly active in the northwest part of the city, Woodmore Street, Heatherdawn Ave, and Pack Street. The Police Department are on Don Montone's payroll, investigating Montone is a quick way to be whacked.
Shepard has not been offered to be under Montone, or any other crime BOSS's, payroll.
>>1036720
>edit: panel.
>>1036725
Fucking grazers
Ask if her husband seemed more stressed than usual leading up to the event
Then go speak with the receptionist about the paperwork we found
>>1036758
"No, he's been as sweet and normal as ever!"
Shepard mentally doubts that, given that 'security' is just a cover for a MADE MAN.
Shepard excuses himself to go speak with Penny. He wastes no time in handing her the BUSINESS LETTERS and asks her to try and decipher the meaning behind the words and numbers.
"W-well, it seems that Mr. O-O'Neal was trying to p-pay off a debt to the city," Penny answers. "Other than t-that, there's a schedule on here."
>>1037016
And that iiiiis
>>1037016
What was he in debt for? And what does it say on the schedule?I'm getting a real Zootopia vibe with this
>>1037298
Same
"U-uh... a-apparently he's in a lot of debt for a fine he's paying off," Penny answers, "Tax issues, as it seems like."heheh, me too actually. i like it.
>>1037232
"I-it's for tomorrow, on the f-fifth," Penny answers.
"Fourth,"
"Oh I'm sorry," Penny apologizes. "O-on the forth, at P-pack St-street."
So a MADE MAN was whacked in his own home?
Unlikely. The Round Tables, the monthly meeting of the five BOSSES, would have to get together and discuss it.
So whoever whacked him must be a proxy, or perhaps a different party altogether.
However, it's still worth asking around if the Families had anything to do with it.
This is going to be a long day.
>>1037016
what kind of schedule?
Any idea who the debt was to or for how much?
>>1037357
"I-i'm very sorry, but it doesn't say," Penny answers.
>>1037325
Can we get access to city records as a LEO? That might be easier than dealing with the gangs.
>>1037483
Penny was about to protest until she realizes that anyone who pays taxes is technically paying her and the rest of the department, including Shepard.
>>1037475
"A-at the City H-hall, you can get the records," Penny says, "I'm l-letting them know t-that you're g-gonna be there shortly..."
>>1037528
thanks Penny I don't know what i wold do without you
Head to records, perhaps bring some Doughnut from the lunch room to act as... well bribes
>>1030399
Bumping
>>1037579i'm here, i'm here, slow your horses
>>1037545
"H-hopefully not p-punching m-more s-suspects..." Penny mumbles to herself as Shepard heads to the BREAK ROOM.
Shepard picks up the BOX OF DONUTS. He hates how it's spelled two different ways, and both are correct.
>>1037635
ok now we got the "Doughnut's"
Time to go punch some witness's! wait.. no.. where was it, right Records time to punch some Records!, or speak to them first anyways.
here's some fanart?
>>1037732holy shitballs yes, thank you! i love it
Shepard took a ride to CITY HALL. Upon entering through the door, it's very apparent that something... isn't right. It's too quiet for Shepard's liking.
>>1037775
Don't draw your gun yet, but be ready. Where's the receptionist?
>>1037820
They're not at the desk.
There's a puddle of blood on the desk and in front of it.
There's a trail and a pawprint on the wall in the hallway.
The blood is fresh.
>>1037844
Is it a good idea to call for back up, or are the crooked cops in on this?
>>1037867
Usually a bad idea.
Never trust the cops in Woodmire, Shepard might end up with a bullet in the back of the head.
>>1037849
Locked and loaded, six shots.i don't care how you did it, the fact you took time out of your life to do something like this means a lot
>>1037885
Do we not even have an ol' buddy from our younger, less cynical days that we can count on?
>>1037899
Well, there IS Shepard's roommate and friend from the Army, Jake.
However, Jake is currently a non-violent drug dealer and not really cut out for this line of work.
>>1037902
OBSERVE SURROUNDING AREA FIRST! DO NOT GET CAUGHT OF GUARD AND NEVER LOWER YOUR GUN! You do this shit like your trained. Finger on the side of the barrel not on the trigger so you don't gorilla trigger (is that still a racist term here) that shit but your also ready to fire. Let nothing go unseen
>>1038243
Shepard has plenty of gorilla friends, he should be able to get away with the race card.
>>1037952
Talking, four voices down the hallway. None of them familiar or local to Woodmore. Deep accents, probably foreign.
It's convenient how all of the politicians decided to take a day off on the day a break in occurs. This has got to be an inside Watergate-like job going wrong.
>>1038256
Peek around the corner while trying to remain hidden, scope out whats going on before we jump in.
>>1038256
AND PUT THAT FUCKING STOOGIE OUT THEY'LL SMELL YOU IDIOT. what if they bloodhounds?
>Smoking anything but the Lord's lettuce
>>1038265
Shepard tries to peak around the corner, but the sound of a passing hostile makes him tuck back to the wall.
>>1038283
The fag is out, now they can't smell Shepard.
>>1038619
Listen to the converstion
>>1040192
we are a canine right, can we smell anything while we listen in, like can we determine what kind of animals we are dealing with by their sent?
>>1040192
>>1040275
Shepard listen in on the conversation while sniffing out their species, however, the only kind of scent Shepard can sniff out is apples, plums, and almonds. The bastards are wearing scent blockers.
"It's not your job to ask questions, Larson, your job is to do what you're told,"
"No, our job is to be bait. That fucking ram. I'm just had rely on the word of a fucking grazer, he's gonna kill all of us as soon as we're done. I bet he's got a hitman after us already."
>>1040513
We need more info. Keep eavesdropping
>>1041542
>>1043379
>on phone, no panel yet.
One of them reloaded. It's a shotgun. It will tear Shepard to pieces if he got too close.
Negative, Shepard knows peaking around the corner insures him being turned to swiss cheese.
"[i]Stop your paranoid fussing and help me carry this bloody birdie,[i]" Unfortunately, they go radio silence.
>>1047234
If they're coming towards us, find a place to hide. If they're going away, follow them discreetly.
>>1047234
>Panel
>>1047250
Thankfully, they went further down the hallway. Shepard quietly traced them.
>>1047435
follow but if we need to shoot, pop the one with the shotgun first, we do not want to be caught in the open against a shot gun unless we are hoping to gain a collection of lead pellets
>>1047435
All this blood had to come from somewhere. Watch out for any bodies, and try not to get it on your shoes.
>>1050903
Keep on eavesdropping
>>1052210
They are not speaking a language Shepard understands.
There is a pig wearing a motorcycle helmet. He is isolated.
Shepard has the following options he can take from here:
>Attempt to PACIFY with badge
>Attempt to NEUTRALIZE with a body shot.
>Attempt to KILL with a head shot.
>Wait for him to leave.
>Player decision.
(Note: There is no karma system in this quest; consequences WILL occur but you will not be deemed "Evil" or "Good".)
>>1057595
>Attempt to NEUTRALIZE with a body shot.
>>1057595
How much hand to hand combat skills do we have? Can we try to take him out without firing a shot?
>>1057595
>Attempt to PACIFY with fists
>>1057772
>Attempt to NEUTRALIZE with a body shot.
>>1058688
Roll a 2D6 for a chance to NEUTRALIZE the hostile. Because Shepard has the drop on him, his chances of success are doubled. If rolled below a two, then failed.
Rolled 3, 4 = 7 (2d6)
>>1058891
>>1059420
>phone, no panel
>SUCCESS!
Shepard pops a magnum round into the spine of the pig.
The sound alerts the rest of hostiles.
>>1060533
Prepare to shoot the rest of them. Get in cover if available
