It's been nearly 200 years since the fall of the Kings of Londoran, when their city was broken in to four pieces and their lands split off from the rest of the world and the Horrid Wastes created a barrier to the treasures of old. You have just been born into this world, but where?

(When asked to roll, roll a 1d100 for combat, and a 1d20 for anything else. 1s, 6s, and 9s win as the decision, unless a majority vote otherwise. In the event of a tie, I'll pick what I like better.)
>>
The straights
>>
>Novsherak, a fertile land. Once home to the Tsars of ages pass, they bent the knee to the Kings of Londoran.
>Lords Hall, since the fall of Londor, this small provincial capital skyrocketed with activity and trade due to it's nature near the Great Split and fertility of Novsherak
>Water's End, a huge sprawling city of decadence and greed, Water's End is the primary trading hub for anything special, and illegal. Poisons and narcotics pass through it's customs houses every day.
>The Twins, the farthest north you can get in this world, the Twins provide nearly all of the raw material to the cities of Londoran. If there's a better place to purchase fine weapons and armor, it's here.
>Somewhere else, perhaps?

Your eyes open to the sight of the Lords Citadel, a rising mass of gold, red brick and shining stone. You play with your mother and your father, and learn how to walk and talk.

Who was your mother?
>A cheap whore
>A noblewoman
>A commoner
>A merchant
Who was your father?
>A sevant
>A nobleman
>A commoner
>A merchant
>>
Not... getting a lot of people rolling in, probably posted this at a bad time.

>>A cheap whore
>A nobleman

both merchants

You were born a bastard, but not without love. Your father was surprisingly set to stay with your mother for as long as he could. Eventually he married a noblewoman and died in a battle against some rebellious upstarts out to the east. Your mother? Strangled by a violent customer. You grew up on the streets, training with wooden sticks, pretending to be knights.

One day, the Lords in their halls decided a war needed to be fought, to root out the sand tribes that have been harassing the merchants on the road to Smolbur. The knights in their shiny armor and their big destriers accompanied by the men-in-mail, carrying long spears and wearing steel half-helms. It was a sight to behold. A promise of bread, a warm bed, and some glory intrigued you. Do you join the draft?
>>
>>100353
Nah, man. Fuck the draft. What have the Lords ever done for us?
>>
>>100400
Dubs have spoken.

You decide war is not for you, at least not yet. You wander the streets for a few more years, clack a few more sticks, until you clack your stick a little to close to a commoners face, and he gets fuming. You only make the situation worse by mocking him and hitting him in the legs. You weren't the nicest child. One minute you're playing a game and the next he's drawn a dagger and is keen to see your guts on the street.

You're outmatched in pure power, but your wooden stick has a better reach advantage and is hard enough to do some serious damage. He comes at you.
Roll to evade and counter.

Try as you may, sticks are still sticks. It was meant to be a quick sidestep, but you ended up sprawled on the street. He plunged for you with his dagger but you rolled to the side, losing only a scrap of your shirt on the way. Springing to your feet you manage to whack him on the back, and not too softly either.

Angrier than ever, he comes at you again, this time you dutifully move out of the way and whap him right on the back of his neck. It sends him staggering and you finish him off with a perfect swipe to the legs. He loses his footing and slams his head into the curb, knocking him unconscious.

He's a peasant, but he's got a bit of coin as well.
You've got a few options.

>Better your standing in this world and steal his dagger and coin
>Leave him be, you've embarrassed him enough
>Write-in
>>
>>100535
Steal just the dagger and his pants. Those will be more useful than just a little coin.
>>
>>100545
I should have been a little more clear. When I say 'coin' I mean plural, he's got a small amount of money on him.

That being said, You take his dagger and his sheathe... and for some reason you decide to take his pants. You leg it to the nearest alleyway. Years of growing up on the streets give you an inside knowledge of all the hidden passageways too big for any city watchmen. You put good distance between you and your aggressor and you inspect the pants you stole. Not too shabby, but much too big for you. You throw them in the gutter after taking his purse of coins. Ten copper, not bad. You'll be able to buy food, maybe even rent a room in some cheap inn. Not a bad day. It's getting dark so what do you do?

>Spend your new wealth on a cheap room at an inn
>Sleep outside, again, like last time, and before that
>Something else?
>>
>>100578
Find the nearest bridge, awning or other easy cover and use the pants as a blanket.
>>
>>100578
need to save some money and sleep out side but still need to get food though
>>
>>100616
What, so our money can get stolen while we sleep outside?
>>
>>100616

You make it over to your favorite bridge in the whole city. Rising over an old moat from centuries ago, back when Londaron was just fractured tribes, you like it here because the earthen soil makes it naturally cool at night. You have places like this all over the city, but this one is your favorite. A stretched out blanket makes an awning between two poles sunk into the earth. You throw the 10 copper pieces onto the awning and lay down on top of it, a clever trick you learned to keep your money safe. You decide to use the pants you stole as... a blanket. It's no true blanket but it's better than being exposed to the cold. Tomorrow you'll get a hearty breakfast, but right now? Precious sleep. You watch the golden sun slip behind the buildings of the slums... and you drift off to sleep...

(Alright anons, this is a good place to leave off for the night. I'll be on tomorrow, probably 5 PM EST. Try to keep this thread alive for now, suggesting what we should do tomorrow. Thanks for not letting this thread die. Good night.)

Being a slumkid, I would really like it if we were part of the local gang of thugs, our support network. We like the leader so we didn't try to usurp the gang.. yet. Maybe there's a gang war going on?
Chances for rewards and fights?
Can we get some shady business going on: brothel, union, protection racket?

And being a nobleman's bastard with at least a basic education in reading, writing, calculating, speaking standard (instead of slumspeak) should give us some edge.

OP IS BACK! WITH UPDATES TO THE MAP!

You awake slowly, staring at the blazing yellow sun. You sit there for a minute, listening to the footsteps and the rickety carts above on the bridge. You deftly move yourself out of the awning and pick up your copper pieces, putting them in your pocket. You run along the side of the old moat until you find some aged and worn stairs leading to the main road. Stepping up there quickly you find yourself in the middle of the busiest marketplace of the city. Four roads lead four different directions, which do you take?

>North, to the slums and red light district
>West, to the barracks and naval docks
>East, to the gate and the thick walls ringing the city
>South, the Lord Citadel, the biggest building in this city, and the most magnificent
>>
>>103471
>North, to the slums and red light district
>>
>>103477
I might move this thread to a different topic, something like building a country. Who knows.

country/civ quests are always fun, especially when you get many people playing, like pic related
>>
>>103471
>North, to the slums and red light district
That's where our buddies are. We have to give some coins to our boss. At least there people don't attack us as they know who we are...
>>104388
Gangster slumlord going legit? :)
>>
>>104935
>[when you get many people playing]
Seems to me that very few quests get many players ( >4 ) - not always bad though.
