Not sure what your image has to do with disproving anything about Reddit, but you pretty much just posted the reason why /vp/ was created. Even though the board's existence is pointless nowadays.

Also if you've spent any reasonable amount of time in meta threads on /v/ and /a/, you'd know a good amount of today's "oldfags" came here from Gaia, so calling them a boogeyman is a bit disingenuous.

I don't think anyone was under the impression that it was an old thing; it essentially developed after the fappening and then came to a crescendo in the past year. Even as recent as 2014 /tv/ would call out '/r/movies false flagging' rather than the site as a whole

Of course places like ED are to blame, but they at least give them some knowledge about the culture here.
