You can't just ignore the fact that 4chan is or was a weeaboo imageboard. It was probably moot's primary motivation to even make a 2ch copy. I'd say that /a/ is still 4chan's core, even though it's only the sixth's largest board. /b/ has become a porn board, /pol/ is considered a containment board, /v/ and /vg/ are shit too.

Hiroyuki isn't a weeb. Have you even seen Futaba Channel and 2ch? 2ch, the textboard Hiro ran, wasn't a weeb site. Not even close. Go there yourself and take a look. It's in Japanese yes, but not even close to being about anime or anime centric. They discuss tons of shit there. Same goes for Futaba Channel that 4chan got code from in the beginning. Yes, it's in Japan and Japanese people go there, but it's not anime centric either. It's got boards for baseball, gardening, world news, art, etc.

So, I don't know where you idiots got this idea that 4chan is a weeb site. 4chan itself says it isn't right in the FAQ and both of the sites 4chan drew inspiration and even code from aren't even geared towards that. 2ch, the site Hiro ran, is a series of textboards, not an imageboard, -from- which 2channel sprang out of. Hiro is not exactly the 1:1 predecessor to moot but rather like a grandpa or uncle to him; Kanrinrin is 2chan's owner and would have been a closer match, but probably wasn't interested in taking over 4chan.

Hiro's site 2ch is indeed a more general themed site but also has a huge amount of anime textboards. Go to 2ch's front page and you will see its memes plastered all over, one of the most famous/prominent of which are yukkuris, which are based off Touhou which is totally an otaku thing. Hiro himself openly talked about anime when he first appeared here and /a/ was the first board he attended to many times over. He literally made a cameo in some old anime years back too. So clearly he is not against anime nor minded it having a wide influence on his own site.
