Why are weebs so unwilling to admit that anime is popular outside of 4chan, particularly on reddit and especially tumblr?

The hole ERP, "l-lewd" and "everyone is a little gay" things for example are essentially breeding grounds for /tumblr/ enclaves on 4chan, they really attract all the gays, and gender identity disorder pre and post op trannies.

People on 4chan have this delusion that late-night anime is really obscure and everyone else just watches naruto/snk/soa etc but that really isn't true.
>>
hmm i agree
>>
>>401929
I think that 4chan users as a whole should admit to themselves that trying to keep people out of their website where you don't need to register to post is foolhardy.
>>
>>401929
Agree, anime is the first step to degeneracy
>>
>>401948

I don't think anyone is legitimately trying to do that or expecting it would be successful. I think the "go back to tumblr/reddit" is just another part of a long line of boogeymen 4chan has had over the years and used as non-refutable retort when in the vein of "no u" and "you mad."

I mean we had various boogeymen over the years:

>gaiafags
>boxxyfags
>furfags
>anontalk
>whatever new #chan decided to have a bitchfit and start up in an attempt to be 4chan but with rules they liked
>summerfags
>bronies
>redditors
>normies
>SJW's
>tumblr
>etc
>>
>>401954
Thinking that nobody does something is just as worthless as >>401948 thinking that everybody could ever do something.
>>
Only corners of 4chan where tumblr actively posts is /fa/, /co/, /trash/, and I think /p/ (though /p/ and /fa/ aren't really that bad as far as tumblrposting, mostly just photography and fashion blogs, respectively).
>>
>>403223
Switch /p/ to /cgl/ and were in agreement.
Ironically the cosplay board is in way better state at the hand of tumblrites because they don't deviate discussion to cosplay culture and celebs like other hobby boards (specially /v/) do
>>
>>403256
/v/ seriously needs something like /cgl/'s rule 2
>>
>>401929
>being gay implies that you browse tumblr

Jesus fuck you are beyond saving.
>>
>>401961
Which threat has 4chan ever repelled without mod assistance?
>>
>>403223
>/trash/ = Tumblr
I heard some retarded shit in my time but this is at the top 15 percentile.
>>
>>401929
>they really attract all the gays, and gender identity disorder pre and post op trannies.

Ever considered that that's what we're trying to do? You realize we have an actual /lgbt/ board, right? That kind of thing is becoming more and more accepted, so much so that even 4chan is starting to welcome it.

The internet is changing, kiddo. Change with it or get left behind.

I disagree. Tumblr is very diverse from SJW's to Stormfags. /k/ is one of my main boards and I run the gun store that I work at tumblr page.
>>
/\/\3/\/\3$
>>
>>403341
When people here refer to tumblr they refer to a certain mindset. Obviously there are /pol/ blogs, gun blogs, and porn blogs, but most pop culture blogs tend to gravitate towards a certain attitude that is considered "tumblr". It's not just SJWs, either, it's all pseudo-Romantic wannabe artists and creatives who think they're special and everything that they do is mystical and special.
>>
>>403374
Well those people are retarded. It's like acting as if /v/ is representative of all of 4chan. Different person from the one you were responding to, by the way.
>>
>>403393
That attitude is at the core of tumblr, though. The gun blogs, porn blogs, etc. are outliers: the majority of tumblr is pop culture related, such as fandom blogs, political blogs, art blogs, etc. As I said, pretty much all of these pop culture blogs center around a general attitude.
>>
>>403398
Would you claim the same of 4chan and /v/? Because if so, we've reached an impasse.
>>
>>403403
No I wouldn't, I don't go on /v/ anyway so I only really hear about its shit secondhand. 4chan is more diverse in terms of interests and attitudes, less of a hivemind. The stereotype of 4chan on tumblr is that we're all offensive, rude, and depraved. Old /b/ used to thrive on this reputation, but actual posters here know that it's not just blantant insulting for insulting's sake, but it's just a general acceptance that sugarcoating opinions doesn't help anyone. That's our core attitude, but of course we deviate from our core more than tumblr does (probably because we have an older and thus slightly more mature userbase).
>>
>>403374
When people refer to another site they're being elitist idiots, just like all those sites are to us and each other. I'm inherently better than you because I'm a channer and you're a tumblrite. And obviously 4chan a a whole is better than tumblr based on my identifying with it. Reddit, 4chan, tumblr, 8ch, voat, all of them have the same echo chamber mindset in regards to themselves.
>>
>>403413
>channer
Fucking kill yourself, newshit
>>
>>403413
>channer
When will Reddit learn that literally none of us use this word?
>>
>>403374
Yes, but when people here refer to that part of tumblr, other people who have never been to tumblr hear that and think that that's all tumblr is. Just like people who honestly think that reddit is just http://reddit.com/r/adviceanimals because they're afraid of not fitting in with their fellow ignorant /b/tards who tell people to go back to Pyoko or whatever.
>>
>>403436
>>403539
https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=channer Channer is a word that was most used back when 4chan was first invented and has steadilly declined since then. People who DON'T use the word "channer" are more likely to be newfags.

OP seems like a huge newfag. /a/ has never denied that anime is popular in mainstream communities like reddit or tumblr. That's actually the main problem. Anime is popular, but in a shallow fad way, or only as a means of getting attention for yourself.

The tumblr anime fan picks up whatever is generating the most buzz so they can stay current with the latest memes. A cursory glance at their #anime tag shows this: tons of Naruto, SAO, SnK, flooded with shows by KyoAni, a few Shaft shows on the side. Tumblr is all about trends and their taste in anime shows this. The people there just hoard gifs and pictures of whatever popular show they're following. They often have a larger anime repertoire than the typical redditor but that's only because fads change so often.

And on /r/anime you see the front page dominated by entry level anime, recommendation threads, and "best of" lists from people trying to get upboats. A cursory look through those "best of 2015" threads shows the shallow taste you would expect from people who watch fewer than 20 anime in a year.

So in summary: it's not about anime being obscure, it's about the level of dedication and effort you put into it. Just because you watch Naruto and follow the #Jojo tag on tumblr doesn't mean you'll fit on /a/.
>>
>>403570
Yes, channer was what it started as, but it then become anon instead as the 4chan culture grew. Channer and 4channer have also fucking sounded stupid as hell and is something almost always used by newfags
>>
>>403570
I started using 4chan in 2005 and I never used channer. The only times I heard people use it was when they were new to the site and didn't know how to describe 4chan users. Nice try, though.

Why is /qa/ such a shit board? It seems every thread has these faggots.

Tumblr is way more obsessed with shitty modern Western cartoons than anime. /co/ reflects this.
>>
>>403785
Why do you say things you don't actually believe?
>>
>>403790
I'm not defending tumblr and reddit. Tumblr and reddit's social standings is not being besmirched by your pathetic attempts to discredit them. I'm telling the people who attack tumblr and reddit to shut up. What are you accomplishing by attacking it? You're advertising for tumblr and reddit.
>>
>>403785
>a community that watches and enjoys almost everything has worse taste then something that only watches meme and popular/trendy anime

So you have never been there
>>
>>403798

No one is trying to besmirch or discredit them, they're redirecting someone with a certain behavior, opinion, or way of talking to a site that better suits them, and where they most likely come from. Unless you're from either of these places, this shouldn't bother you.

Funny thing is I've never discussed anything anime related on 4chan, because honestly it's the worst place to talk about anime.
>>
>>404001
>it's the worst place to talk about anime.
Hardly. Every other English community with speed is garbage normalfag shit, filled with retards who only talk about the popular trendy shit with everything else being almost nonexistent. If you are looking to discuss those anime here, its the same amount of quality, but for everything else? It's generally pretty good, even more so for manga

Hating something because Reddit likes it is literally hating something for being popular.

It's not that we are unaware of them, we are quite aware of the MAL community and what not. It's that we don't want to associate with them in the same way /a/ doesn't want to be associated with /v/.
>>
>>404279
>the same way /a/ doesn't want to be associated with /v/

This meme has gotten so stupid. I remember when /a/ started hating /v/, I think it was either because /b/ posters moved to /v/, or /v/ got infested by normalfags (in 2008 or 2010 I don't remember) who kept bashing anime and Japanese games, so /a/ started to hate /v/ and tastes started to drift.

Now it's literally just a boogeyman. The cultures of /a/ or /v/ aren't disparate or tangible enough for it to be noteworthy. It's just a thing people repeat because it was the boogeyman of choice when they got here and it stuck around. At least telling someone to go back to reddit/tumblr sort of makes sense since you want them off the site and those are large sites, telling them to go to a videogame board on the same site because they disagree with you is retarded. It's a relic of a time when 4chan actually had board cultures.
>>
>>404347
It's not a meme, there is a distinct change in tone and attitude with /v/ posters compared to /a/ posters which is relatively easy to spot out. /v/ has a tendency to turn everything into an 'Us vs them' debate, to them if you enjoy Hidamari Sketch you can't possibly enjoy Berserk or Gintama which simply isn't true and there's no real divide BUT you can't enjoy threads from the latter because its full of /v/ tier shit posting.
>>
>>404347
>The cultures of /a/ or /v/ aren't disparate or tangible enough for it to be noteworthy

HAHAHA.

The only threads on /a/ you must go to must be about One Meme Man, Berserk, Jojo and shonenshit garbage for you to believe in that stuff.

Also, /v/ is still full of Westacucks shitposting about Japanese games. They haven't gone away.
