To preface, I'm pretty much a socialist. So as I was walking through some porn shop in akihabara today, thinking about the virtues of communism, and how a great society would be one where you are afforded all the basic nessecities to survive, I realized something. Communism is nessacarily classist. Not materialwise, but intellectually. It implies that there will always be a group of people too stupid to perform the functions of government or pursue intellectual work. I don't know if I can agree with this if I am to continue being a liberal, since I believe that all people are born equal, and should be treated as such by their governments and greater society on an ideological level.

The purpose of society is to remove natural tendencies. Giving women power, shopping at a large market, peaceful politcal discourse. These are all measures that have been affects of progress. Greed will leave naturally, and virtue will be strived for.

Do you really honestly believe this? People have different strengths and weaknesses. Using equality/inequality to compare people is kind of dumb, because equality (oddly enough) is a *quantitative* comparison rather than qualitative. When someone considers that people may not be equal, they assume that this means there are necessarily "lesser" and "greater" people, but that's like saying that because trees and lizards are not "equal," one must be greater than the other. They're just different.

Isn't this true for all states and religions?
If its my nature to dominate and control, doesn't liberalism step on that nature? Doesn't it seek to change it? Doesn't it throw me in jail if I act on my nature?
If my nature is to enjoy myself in idleness doesn't capitalism tread on my nature by forcing me to work for the things I want to enjoy? Doesn't capitalism say, 'you cannot be a lazybones if you want food, shelter, and entertainment'? Is that not a violation of human nature?

"Human nature" is the laziest kind of argument when discussing politics and is a sign that whoever you're talking with has nothing meaningful to add at this point.
