Why have threads on /v/ become dumber? Is it a demographic shift?

Because about 10-15 years ago video gaming became mainstream. And all the retards joined in. Any online MP is basically ruined, since the odds of getting good players is 1/100 or worse.

Yep. As /v/ becomes more and more known, the worse it will get. The board pretty much needs at least one mod watching it at all times.

Free to play systems haven't helped that. I remember being new to TF2 and being awful and improving as I played, then once F2P occurred I was topscoring consistently in every game. I hadn't gotten better, the average skill level just plummeted.
