What does /qa/ think of Visual Basic? I remember myself making several "programs" with it that didn't even work. It was a much simpler time.
I took a course in a Quebec cegep(like a pre-university). It taught me the introduction to logic, basic math and stuff that I would later expand on as I learnt CS.
There were some pretty ugly viruses written in the script though so I don't think it's
a laughable language.
They taught us that in high school, but everything in the one class I did at college about programming was Python. My cousin told me that when he was in college - same one as me - they taught Java. They also teach C to the engineering students. I don't think it's very valuable for people at the end of high school, but I can't really comment as I don't program as a hobby.
