What does /qa/ think of Dyson spheres?

From the Wikipedia page a Dyson swarm of orbiting solar panels seems like the most practical version.
I don't get how the mega-structure form is supposed to work.

I still think they're impossible to build in practice. Too massive and not enough materials.

It's kind of assuming that the best source of energy an advanced civilization like that will have will still be sunlight.
