Should westerners strive to draw in the iconic eastern art style?

it seems like part of the anime quale is the gestural style of the line art. my theory is that it has to do with learning to write kanji vs the latin script

I believe artists are free to do whatever they please.
Plenty of eastern artists take on western styles to compliment them.

It works sometimes, but I generally prefer them to find their own style. The cute and color things are definitely things that Western artists should incorporate more of, though.
