Hand-drawn anime babes. Digital just can't compete.
This show has been sitting on my hard drive for years and I still haven't watched it. I should.

Hah, I know how that is. I downloaded this from /t/ about two years ago.

The thread's probably still there.
What's the advantage of digital anyway? Cheaper and easier to make? It's okay now, but early '00s anime is aesthetically the most unappealing to me.

You are aware that modern anime girls are also hand-drawn? What's digital is the colouring.

Cheaper, faster, easier. I don't blame studios for doing it, but I miss the old style.

Like FMA 2003? Is FMA Brotherhood better aesthetically to you?

What >>1532163 noted as well as easier to incorporate into digital effects. You can do a lot more with vector. I mean i suppose you can do a lot of things now even with hand drawn cells but back when there was no digital at all there were a ton of effects unavailable. Like easy scaling/skewing. I guess i don't really fucking know.
All i know is i like the old look better. And the color palette was much more vibrant/diverse as a whole. To this day you can't easily replicate the colors of traditional animation. If at all. From what i understand.

If you guys like traditional animation i would check out the film monolith that is Wings of Honnemise. The film is just gorgeous, took a lot of man hours. I love Akira to death in terms of visuals and you should check that out as well. But if you are judging a film on visuals alone i feel like this one tops it in some ways.

Will do. Thanks.

Probably doesn't qualify these days...

Why wouldn't it?
Template threads on /qa/ are forbidden.
