Is having multiple personas a mental problem?

Most definitely. Seek help.
In real life? Maybe, I wouldn't know.
On the internet? Definitely not.
I believe a good discussion thread has the possibility for me to play devil's advocate.
I can't play devil's advocate.

Just you.
Short answer is no, not necessarily. Long answer implies that it's generally the opposite condition that manifests more unhappiness. As in, being stuck in a rut. For example depressed people only have one persona, and it is torturous for them and generally everyone that decides to interact with them. But I can't really go further on this subject without defaulting to the idea that each individual is a different universe and what is unpleasant for one may be ecstasy for another. So when referring to a specific instance it cannot be answered in general terms. In my mind, this is partly why therapists are paid as much as they are. You just can't answer an individual's questions pertaining to what is the best way for them to live their life without having a deep knowledge of human behavior and the individual. The more a guidance figure knows of these two fields, at the least, the more thoroughly that entity can help that individual.

People with multiple personality disorder are in fact multi dimensional travelers who are constantly shifting between individual planes of existence?
My personality changes when speaking different languages.
English is not the most fun, I'll tell you that.
>>1475699
The problem is, having only one persona does not mean it will cause unhappiness. It really depends on different person. Meanwhile having multiple personas but cannot control which one to use implies mental instability.

I would say that multi dimensional travelers who are constantly shifting between individual planes of existence may be diagnosed with something of the like, sure. But the way these DSM criterion are written, you can diagnose most anybody with 'something' and abuse such power to profit off of it, if they choose to believe something is 'wrong' with them that needs to be fixed. Therapy is a different animal than psychiatry, and having a therapist that cares is a different animal than one who does not.

I do the same. Also with accents. Many people tend to try to suppress that tendency however. As they have been socially conditioned to perceive such behavior as 'wrong' and worthy of embarrassment.

I covered that line of thinking in that post, but to add to it and to attempt to clarify the line of reasoning you picked up on I will say this: If the individual is suffering and going through a certain change would make that individual happier overall, such change is a good thing. The change that is best or better for that individual may not, however, lie within the realm of 'science' covered by such terms as referring to any and all individualities as 'disorders' which must be dealt with through powerful psychotropic drugs which I have represented the entire scope of here as a little red circle, surrounded by other entities that you get to color in yourself. Because, I'm not here to teach you. I'm here to remind you to teach yourself. This is an analogy. I have a more linear one if you'd prefer it.

stop playing Persona 5
>>1475724
Language is tied to the line of thought of a person. It is probably a good sign that different thought process is applied to different languages due to high proficiency.

never understood that

I have different mindsets. I guess that sort of fits under a classically defined character/personalities. I put "mental energy"(dont know how to describe it) based on the situation. However, sometimes a certain mindset gets too out of control. I do have a therapist from where i've officially graduated, although I wouldn't call it official for myself as I've lied to her on many such occasions, especially in the beginning. Although I ceased doing it often near the end close to when she considered me "graduated". This therapist helped me explore my different mindsets akin to what >>1475699 is saying. So what I've gathered is that sometimes humans can go off the deep end and just go mental.
I like to imagine people diagnosed with permanent mental problems as being stuck in a loop of thinking. Maybe lack of good memories or traumatic experience cause this thought because association is a priority over logic or connections. I've been friends with people who have gotten over seemingly powerful mental "disorders" such as bulimia through their investment into another mindset alone. So I guess I can posit that it depends on your control of your brain chemicals and your reaction to it. Do you register the pain by creating a memory, or do you respond to the stimuli like a plant(bad analogy but i cant think right now).

So the point of persona exploration is to find the best one suitable for one self? Having different personas would simply be a "side effect" of pursuing happiness (the ultimate persona) instead of being the end result.
Having only one persona is bad. It's called 'poor character development'
>>1479040
What if that's the only way someone can express their self?
>>1479932
That is bad.
How could it not be?
