Was "herp derp" ever a thing? Why did it seem to have phased out, unlike "hurr durr" which seems almost timeless?

HerpDerp was more something that people said in flashes/video iirc
>>1469284
Yes. Hurr durr is the dumbed down "ironic" version.
"herp derp" was more genuine and that's probably why it died out.
"hurr durr" seemed to always be used aggressively as an insult and was never in a good post. Naturally it would carry onto today's "ironic" cynical internet of idiots.
"herp derp" is reddit as fuck.

Yeah. Usually the former was applied to be self-critical in a joking way or as a light topical tone. Its not nearly as negative.
herp derp
herpderp used to be my password on a lot of sites.

You are going to be hacked....

"reddit" see s a misnomer. This might have been at a time where "epic" and "owned" were used in sincerity, no irony in sight. I feel the internet should be allowed that phase without just calling it reddit.

Did you not notice how everyone else ignored that post and the thread continued on? Don't give underage shitposters such power.
For the record, "owned" has been used on /qa/ in good fun and not the stupid ironic way. Don't let these people dictate the culture here.

Cheers, honestly. It is a lazy dismissal and somehow I thought it was normal.

Irony is the cancer killing the internet.

Is this ironic?
