This advertisement which aired on television where I live bothers me. It's like it's trying to tell you that if you're not conforming you will be less happy or attractive (the actor paying with cash seems to have a forced smile and is less handsome than the man behind him in line) and disrupt the 'natural rhythm' of things. Thing is, this feature isn't optional. New credit cards have NFC in them by default and I don't think they manufacture ones without. And, when they were first around, there were reports of people having their cards stolen or being mugged for their cards which were then used to make purchases without the need for a PIN number.

I think it's an inevitability at this point, but it's also a scary one because of the nature of of digital things being vulnerable to hacking and power outages.
