No, you underestimate the critique boards. Like /mu/ and /fa/, while specialized there's clearly a meta of not just vomiting any opinion considered plebeian. They have their own weeb mafia-esque tactics to drive out people not fitting in, it's just how it goes. They could be an indistinguishable average here if they wanted a giggle.

Not to say it's prestigious but people like me dgaf, someone else might, and someone from there could.

Never touched /mu/ but I just assumed everyone just says "it's good", "it's bad", meaning you need to lurk to find what's socially acceptable.

Not him but I only go on /mu/ when I want to find some new music or if a particular piece of music moved me and I want to share it/discuss it(in this case I most often get zero replies). I don't really care if I get called a numale or a plebian or whatever. Digging through the archives is also a very good way to find new stuff and you can avoid interaction entirely this way. When I think about it I've probably spent more time on the /mu/ archives than /mu/ itself.

Cheers for the honest feedback. It's just that from observing most criticism-heavy places I feel understanding is more latent than you would expect.

Like you would expect to go to /mu/ to drown in philosophy and science explaining why each sound has objective appeal, why specific sequences objectively subject you to a significant experience etc., but then you go to a soundcloud thread and someone says "good shit, followed." It just seems to me like what's considered isn't literally put forth, so I likened that meta to whatever.

I used to browse /fa/ from 2013-2015. I caught the tail end of the 'good' phase of the board. It's unusable now.
