Futaba is for otaku. 4chan is used by normalfags and NEETs pretending to be otaku. In this regard, Futaba is objectively better than 4chan.

It definitely seems that way just based on the various content they produce and the fun I can see in their threads with OC. I can't understand Japanese so I can't judge their level of discussion, but I really doubt it's not above 4chan's teenagers.

There is less association with outside things and events, no 'happenings', but the discussion quality is much much higher. Better can be whichever you enjoy more.
