What exactly is a general thread and why are they bad?
Nothing wrong with them

General threads combine what would otherwise be multiple threads into one, usually for the sake of speed. 4chan gives an advantage to fast threads; that is its primary method of self-moderation. By flouting this mechanism, they allow topics with less interest to stay on the board, but on the other hand, within the general, there is no self-moderation. Shitposting cannot be separated from the good stuff, and therefore all generals eventually devolve into shitposting as the constructive posters leave.

Doesn't this mean that most threads are unintentionally generals or are there more criterias that has to be filled for the thread to be considered to be a general?
