Theory:
/pol/ is a natural consequence of 4chan's "counter culture". 4chan thrived on people getting angry at things that made them feel alone and ostracized, it was a place of venting for such people, a place to feel like you are with like-minded people that also could not fit in with the "normal" crowd. However, in parallel to the deepening divide in American politics, sensationalist right wing media and the ever sprawling technological age, this backlash became more than just venting. It began to spread beyond the virtual world and started to seep into the more normal crowd as the political divide grew. Since the 2016 election and the national focus on the "alt-right", /pol/ posters no longer share similar outlooks as the rest of the board, but became a political platform for people who have become addicted to scapegoating and hatred towards anything unlike them.
Solution:
Just fucking nuke the board, Hiroshima. Take 4chan off the political map. Yes, it will cause a site-wide shitstorm, but if you take away their platform they will disperse. More importantly, this will save you a lot of legal troubles in the near future.
tl;dr delete /pol/

This is all true but we already know the mods will do nothing, making this thread kind of redundant.
