Teenagers. I didn't understand my peers when I was that age, and I still can't understand them. Bunch of selfish and destructive idiots who can't see past what they want to see, and will eat any lie as long as it's coated in enough sugar. I know. I'm only saying I can't understand or like most of them, and that I don't understand why they act the way they do. It's as if logic and reason that goes against their flawed concepts of reality loosens all of their screws. Every time I point out things they miss about things they claim to like, they go into a ridiculous defense/denial-of-reality mode instead of trying to understand it more. Like I'm some sort of bad guy because I read into the details and examined it before forming an opinion about it. My brother acted that way (and still acts that way sometimes), and my younger sister does it all the time.

I was the weird guy because I was the only one who was never sure of myself on most matters, and was open to the knowledge offered by others. I'm still unsure about most things and always try to triple-check my facts before I go posting my opinion. Why they can't accept being wrong is beyond me. Why be so prideful when most of your opinions are formed by word-of-mouth and favored social groups, wherein the feeling good about their general decision is more important than being right about their decision?

Well, let me be the first to tell you that it's a good thing that you are the way you are. However, the problem you're encountering isn't limited to age. Most people don't look beyond the surface of things because most people aren't taught to do that. Maybe you taught yourself to be that way, but somehow you made a conscious decision to look beyond the surface and try to understand things more comprehensively. The simple fact is that most people don't care about doing this. Most people are okay with the surface of things and don't ever want to know what's beyond it. In fact you've pointed out a problem that occurs when you try to show people what's underneath; they literally reject it. I do not know exactly why our society prides itself on this, but unfortunately it is a pretty major part of things.
