I lived on this weird single street of the side of the road and our power was 40 years old behind the main power line so my neighborhood don't have power for like 2 and a half weeks in 2004 during Hurricane Charlie. I was about 10. Me and the neighborhood kids literally created a tribe in this abandoned light house (we lived on this big ass river). shit was tight. About 15 kids total in the neighborhood, had tribe wars and everything with bow and arrows we crafted ourselves.

The descriptions seem pretty exaggerated in severity. Or maybe our infrastructure here in FL is much better than the norm. I've experienced multiple hurricanes and even in Cat 4s the worst that's happened is downed trees/a few neighbour's roof shingles flying off. We boarded up the windows and it was just a chill experience playing cardgames. No damages or anything, maybe lost power once during one of the ones that hit closer to my town.
