Metric sucks for easily dividing stuff in your head quickly unless it is by 2, 5, 10, etc. Imperial units allow more flexibility in quickly dividing units. A foot is easily divided by 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 into inches. For the the thing we probably divide most in our daily lives, consider there are 60 minutes in an hour. What is 60? It's the smallest number evenly divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. It is also evenly divisible by 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, and 60. Metric is certainly simpler to learn but it isn't necessarily that useful in regular daily life.
