All cultures around the world value their lighter skinned individuals. Most popular beauty products in Africa and Asian are skin lightners m. I think it has something to do with dark skin being associated with low class people since they would work in the sun while high class people stayed in the shade.

I think as long as you're brown you can be beautiful. It's that dark black that Africans and Indians can get that is undesirable for the most part although there are individuals with that skin tone that can be very attractive but on average if you are darker than a paper bag, you'll be considered unattractive and too dark.
