I have the edge+ and my brother has the 6 plus and they're about the same quality case-wise. Both have brushed aluminum sides. The samsung has gorilla glass front and back, can't remember which glass the iphone uses. Both use the same fingerprint readers now.

Most generic laptops don't have a solid mechanical design. They often brake hinges. On the specific laptop I'm typing on they forgot to open the ventilation holes. Stuff like that. Apple get a lot of things right just by not be absolutely atrocious. And even then they commit rookie mistakes like forgetting strain relief on cables.
