Actually I'm a psychologist lol. I referred to the Quran because the topic of discussion was Iran. Unfortunately studying homosexuality in the US as a mental disorder is very much looked down upon so I've mostly just done ones that beat around the bush, such as the high correlation between homosexuality and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

Regardless, it makes sense. There is a biological/genetic component to being gay. Everyone accepts this. There is a biological/genetic component to every single mental disorder. There are different levels of predisposition. Some people have such high disposition to their mental disorder that little to no amount of environmental stimuli is needed to trigger it. Some have very little predisposition but large amounts of environmental stimuli will trigger it.

Hence, the increase in gay culture greatly increases the odds that people with little predisposition will end up gay.
