When you live in the country, you are responsible for everything in your life. Repair your own house, plow your own driveway, police are half an hour away, so provide your own security. Control your own pests, tend your own lawn, no busses or trains so provide your own transportation.

When you rent in the city, providing everything is the responsibility of someone else, and this creates a mentality that someone else should fix all your problems and provide for all your wants, which is the foundation of leftism.

There is no more frontier and so we are becoming weaker and more complacent and accepting of dependence on the state.
