Most all monotheistic religions came from pantheistic religions (called polytheistic to some, where there are a PANTHEon of gods). In almost all of these religions the god of war is selected as the ruling god. In Judaism the entire religion was rewritten to replace the pantheon with the Canaanite god of war, Yahweh.

Why is it always the god of war? Why not a god of fertility, love, all that gay shit? Because humans came to love power and dominance for their people. Any religion that exerts power over one that promotes love and respect will dominate.
