So, my understanding of the situation is this.

Can anyone fill the holes in my understanding of this? Who do you think is in the right here? I feel like it's a classic case of farmers not wanting to give up their land to the government and then ending up on the receiving end of the government's underhanded tricks, but it could very well be that the ranchers were poaching deer and trying to hide it. Was there actual evidence that the deer were being poached in the case? Surely setting deer on fire doesn't lead to them magically disappearing entirely.
