I'm wondering, if one day an Amnesty law gets passed would it be possible to just fly over beforehand, throw away your old passport and then act as if you have lived in the US as an illegal for multiple years so that you're granted amnesty and an easy way to citizenship.

The progressive publication vice estimates a very generous $22 billion contribution in local and federal taxes, more than twice the estimate of other publications, but on schooling alone that leaves a shortfall of 114 billion. That's not even addressing the myriad other costs of illegal immigration including their massive over-representation in prisoner population and their straining of emergency rooms and abuse of social safety nets nation wide.
