Macedonian Brit here.

As a Brit and a Macedonian there is absolutely no country or people that I hate more than the Greeks. I have followed Greece from both ends of my heritage and I really cannot believe that people haven't united in saying how fucking terrible the Greeks are.

Firstly, as a Brit and an unfortunate member of the European Union I am angry about how the other countries have to bail out the Greeks for their own irresponsibility. It is their problem, and the EU shouldn't be acting as a safety net for their own backwards irresponsibility. The Greeks are a nasty lazy people, and the recession was bad things happening to bad people.

Then, on the other hand as a Macedonian I am getting fat sweaty Greeks telling Macedonia that it shouldn't join the EU despite it meeting the copenhagen criteria, being wanted by the EU and then getting vetoed every time by Greece. Why are the people in the EU listening to Greece, when all Greece is doing is giving it problems financially. Greece isn't even a benefit to the EU, the only reason that it's not being kicked out is because Merkel knows that any nation leaving will set a massive precedent that could result in other nations leaving.

And what is worse is the fact that Greeks claim to be descendants of Alexander and the ancient Hellenic people. Do they know that the Greek identity was constructed by the British? The Greek identity prior to that identified itself in line with Roman heritage, and it was only when the Brits constructed the Greek heritage for them because of their love of classics did they adopt Hellenic traditions. Similarly, they claim that Alexander was there's despite history saying that the Macedonian people were a different ethnicity and appearance to the Greeks. They were OCCUPIED by Macedonia, there is obviously debate about the ethnicity of Alexander but this is undeniable.
