It somehow depends on where you want to go. There are differences between the urban and rural differences. The rural areas are more white and traditionalistic. The cities are more multicultural.

The culture can be somewhat compared to the culture of Bavaria. Austrians are more vivid and less stiff than Germans. But at the same time they can be somewhat narrow-minded (in the rural areas).

The food also is better than in Northern Germany.

Every rural area is pretty decent. I live somewhat close to Frankfurt, which is one of the least German major cities and as long as I don't have to go to Frankfurt life is good. Just like in every country people naturally segregate. Villages and towns have always been almost entirely German and will, for the most part, remain that way as long as they aren't too close to the bigger cities. Ideally, you just look for a city with the least foreigners and then move to the outskirts or rural areas, because depending on your profession you may have to find work in the city and commute.
