Since Ireland is becoming apparently relevant to me again I'd like to know about it.

Could someone (ideally an actual bogger and not some autist that's also from jolly old england) give me a brief summary of the current political climate of the Republic of Ireland, and that of Northern Ireland?

Specifically, I'd like to know:

>Are DUP/Sinn Fein actually liked or are they just voted in to balance power
>How powerful or popular/what share of the electorate do Sinn Fein have in the republic
>Is there a "unionist" (i.e-rejoin the UK) movement in the republic
>How left/right leaning is the current ruling party of the Republic?
>What needs to change/improve in your opinon?
>How do you think Brexit will affect you, and why?

I'm inquiring because I don't form opinions about countries I don't know much about, and I know fuck all about Ireland beyond some general history.
I know we're going to lose Northern Ireland to you at some point but from what I hear I shouldn't be too upset about that.
Rundown, bogtrotters.

After Irish Famine and Black and Tans, no they wont rejoin the "empire" on a thousand years.

I wouldn't imagine there are any real Unionist groups that aren't fringe movements, but I'm interested all the same.

>>140418290
What do you reckon about the Brexit border? I see lots of NI Unionists calling for some hard border dankery but that seems like it'd fuck them more than it'd fuck you.

I think a lot of past grievances will go out the window once shit starts to go south.

No more brother wars and all that. We are entering a new paradigm, anon. I had family killed by British auxiliaries in Tipperary but I also had family killed at the Somme fighting for Britain.

We are bound by blood, yet to see our greatest days together.

>Are DUP/Sinn Féin actually liked or are they just voted in to balance power
The DUP aren't in the Republic, bud.
Regardless, I was talking to someone from the North who told me that you have to vote for "your guys" to keep the other guys from fucking you over. This person wasn't the sharpest, though, so I don't know how reliable that is.

>How powerful or popular/what share of the electorate do Sinn Féin have in the Republic
They're the third biggest party at the moment. Lots of people migrated to them from Labour because Labour went into coalition with Fine Gael and were their unquestioning lap dog for 5 years. Their core voter base is inner city working class. They'll never get into government, though.

>Is there a "unionist" (i.e-rejoin the UK) movement in the republic
Of course there isn't. Why would there be? Your country is an Islamic police state. We don't want any part of that.

>How left/right leaning is the current ruling party of the Republic?
Fine Gael are basically the Tories. They're laissez-faire economically, and get swept along with the tide socially, i.e. gay "marriage" and the like. They're also quite fond of nanny-state policies. The current Taoiseach is the gay son of an Indian immigrant who hates the poor with a passion. He's also a total EU sycophant.

>What needs to change/improve in your opinion?
Things aren't too bad here for now. I'd like if our parties were more ideological. If you want thins to change but you're not a socialist, there's literally nobody to vote for.

>How do you think Brexit will affect you, and why?
More EU influence now, I think. We escaped some stuff because of our common travel area with you, but I think that shield will go out the window.

>Rundown, bogtrotters.
Here you go, Ahmed.

I do always think it's a pity that there aren't more conservative people to lean toward, aren't one of your parties originally fascists (blue shirts?) ?
I might be mixing them up, I can never remember the fucking pixie names.

What's the attitude toward NI in the republic? Much "appetite" for reunification among non-retards or is it seen as a containment unit?

Paddy here

>Are DUP/Sinn Fein actually liked or are they just voted in to balance power
The DUP are obviously despised in the Republic. Sinn Finn aren't liked, but tolerated. Most people recognise their lefty tendancies and those that would vote for them compete with Labour.
>How powerful or popular/what share of the electorate do Sinn Fein have in the republic
20%? Labour claim another 10%
>Is there a "unionist" (i.e-rejoin the UK) movement in the republic
No
>How left/right leaning is the current ruling party of the Republic?
Both the major parties (Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil) are center right, moving steadily towards the center for the past ten years.
>What needs to change/improve in your opinon?
Apart from the usual IMMIGRATION BAD, FUCKING HOMOS, parties need to stick to their position. FG needs to stay center right, FF needs to stay center. They need to stop converging for the sake of a extra votes.
>How do you think Brexit will affect you, and why?
Personally, no. However, I think the Republic will do very well financially out of this. We'll probably also get your pakis so they can get their EU passport (it's already started).

>>140421431
>More EU influence now, I think. We escaped some stuff because of our common travel area with you, but I think that shield will go out the window.
That's true. Also prepare for the influx of brown "British" wanting an EU passport.

Guarantee you that there will be a case in the next ten years of Mohammad forging a birth cert to prove he had an Irish granny.

>aren't one of your parties originally fascists (blue shirts?)
Fine Gael went a bit fashy during the day. They've veered drastically off that course though.

>What's the attitude toward NI in the republic?
We'll have them, but we'll bitch for decades about paying for them. I would never forgive someone that turned away the north in a referendum after the entire country waiting hundreds of years to unify.

He was right. It's more of a scare tactic with unionist and loyalist voters as I do believe that they are brought up believeing that if Sinn Fein or a nationalist for that matter become the leading party in NI or worse yet, a United Ireland does form then they will have to either flee or start another civil war. Quite sad really as I am from Belfast

>Are DUP/Sinn Fein actually liked or are they just voted in to balance power
Some people like them but most just hate ether the Irish or the British so they vote for them.
>How powerful or popular/what share of the electorate do Sinn Féin have in the Republic
Only 20% of votes and it'll probable fall in the next election.
>Is there a "unionist" (i.e-rejoin the UK) movement in the republic
..................................................................Do i need to answer this
>How left/right leaning is the current ruling party of the Republic?
Center right but very pro the EU and letting Pols into our country
>What needs to change/improve in your opinon?
Leave the EU
Slow immigration
Other then that the gov dose a good job
>How do you think Brexit will affect you, and why?
It'll probable fuck us but maby if the EU decides to fuck the UK it'll fuck us even more and hopefully we'll leave the EU.

All parties are centrist EU cucks except Sinn Fein who are left wing populists who would probably become centrist EU cucks if they ever got any power.
