Tbh I'm not sure how I feel about them. They fight ISIS and other Islamic extremist, which is good enough by me. At most, the only war crimes they seem to be guilty of is displacing Assyrians, which they say is for relocation in preparation for the retaking of the IS capital.

They use communism as a tool to sway the hopes of their people, but I've read articles from them who say most are genuine anarchists or libertarians.

If photo has a time date info you can compare shadow of gun on left. Length of stock to length of stock on shadow. That will tell you angle of sun on that day... also giving you 2nd check on latitude
