Not much without extensive foreign aid. Best Korea is pretty much frozen in the 50s, can you imagine how much would it cost to modernize the whole region? It happened something similar with East Germany and, to this day, you can pretty much tell where the west ends and the east begins.

I don't know whether South Korea has the money or even the inclination to do so, really. I know I wouldn't.

I would honestly just leave the north...at least Pyongyang as is once annexing and pass it off as a tourist attraction. You know people will flock to Pyongyang to buy a "trendy retro apartment" in the city.

Unification at this point would turn Korea (regardless what label you put on the new state or whether Kim or his buddy Moon are running the place) into a communist shithole overnight and all the conservatives and the upper class would move to Japan or the US faster than you can say Pokdongeeya

No idea, never been to NK and I take all info from there with a grain of salt. On one hand you have the narrative of most norks being unwilling prisoners, the country being this huge gulag they are literally dying to escape from, on the other hand you have books like The Cleanest Race where it explains that most norks consider themselves a pure race untainted by BBC and western degeneracy.

I guess, like everything, it's a mix of both. If the soviet experience serves of example, sure, eventually we will see nork nostalgics wanting to back to the glorious days of pure and strong North Korea.

There are several lines of anti-missle defences if Lil Kim were stupid enough to fire a nuke at the United States so the likelihood of one getting through is quite remote.

My guess is that both the Chinese and USA will both attack the Norks with conventional weapons in the next few days with overwhelming force, destroying everything including their nuclear capability. Chinese boots on the ground in overwhelming numbers. Kim gets removed, the nukes go away and NK will become a subservient puppet state to China and open up to the world. Consequently their economy improves dramatically, becoming par with SK, eventual reunification may occur with UN blessing and the United States gradually pull out of their confrontation with China in the South Pacific Sea into increased isolation and protectionism.
