>General summary:
The Eagle Creek Fire has exploded in size since last night due to high winds and extremely dry conditions. The fire is located a few miles east of Portland, Oregon's outer suburbs, and is currently burning through a region known as the Columbia River gorge, a popular tourist destination with waterfalls, trails, lakes, mountains, viewpoints, etc. Some of those are on the verge of getting torched, or have already burned.

Is the fire burning by where that shitty time travel video game takes place?

Press conference set for 4:30am Pacific time (ie, 40 minutes from now). Will probably be carried by all the local news stations, ie:

Why? We are giant, tiny island ally.
So /pol/ over had a suspicion that these major Forest fires are man made, intentionally, perhaps ISIS , Or another U.S threat , is this /x/ tier thinking or a reasonable possibility?

This particular fire was said to be started by teenagers shooting off fireworks. They haven't been identified, but were apparently detained.

There are already burn-bans and bans on setting off fireworks the region due to very dry conditions. As we see now, those conditions were no joke.

I read a few years ago that part of the reason for these huge fires were policies of tackling every single fire, no matter how small. It causes a build up of 'fuel' on the forest floor, which makes larger fires much worse. They need to let the smaller fires consume all the deadwood and foliage, to prevent bigger fires later on. Does that make sense? I can't remember all the details of the article, sorry.

Lol, it's actually raining bits of ash from the fire. This is going to be a mess around Portland, especially if it rains later in the week (wet ash turns into a crude cement-like sludge and ruins stuff if there is enough of it).

It's an ongoing debate, but yes, fire suppression CAN lead to buildup of undergrowth which can then burn hotter and more ferociously when fires do strike.
However, there are also very intense forest fires in regions with little or no human suppression, like the Russian taiga or remote parts of Alaska. It may be the case in some areas/circumstances that undergrowth simply builds up quickly no matter what (for example, during rainy years).
