I know someone who knows David Tibet, and he's told me some stories about David just stopping parties and telling everyone they're going to hell. And I don't think it's in some kind of 'artsy' psychotic way. Like, he's genuinely concerned for people he's seen as his friends, and he wants to stop them from being degenerates.

With DiJ, I think they're mostly about the aesthetic. But you can't embrace the look without embracing at least a little bit of the mindset. Besides, 'fascist' is a pretty broad term that can include a lot of different ideologies.

Reading over your post, I can understand Tibet being against drugs since the 80s underground scene was full of hedonistic drug use that probably fucked a lot of people over. The more I read about him though, the more I feel that he's just trying to distance himself from his past as much as possible. Tibet slowly started to reject what Douglas Pearce and Boyd Rice stood for and has completely disowned any associations he has with them. Steven Stapleton even openly shat on Death in June in the book "England's Hidden Reverse" and Death in June were excluded from that book despite being a huge part of those bands' histories.

Tibet's record label was the first to release Antony's music. If you take a quick look at his bio on his old website, Antony thinks a lot about "viral late stage capitalism, woman power, families treasuring their transgendered children" among other libcuck things.

A lot of Legendary Pink Dots songs have strong feminist and anti-fascist themes. If you read any interviews with Edward Ka-spel, he just comes off as a huge pacifist hippie.

The falling out Douglas Pearce had with his peers had nothing to do with politics or religion. It was all a result of the mismanagement of World Serpent Distribution (the events of which became the basis for the album All Pigs Must Die). Much of the what went down will remain behind closed doors but the gist of it is quite simple. World Serpent lied about profits and royalties and embezzled money from artists like Douglas Pearce and Boyd Rice. Douglas sued them and won. David Tibet for whatever reason sided with World Serpent, this caused a riff between Pearce and Tibet that has never been resolved. As a result of this lines were drawn in the sand. Some people sided with Pearce such as Boyd Rice and some people (Coil, Nurse with Wound, Throbbing Gristle et al.) stood with Tibet.

That's really all there is too it, has nothing to do with anything beyond Tibet being something of a sleazy scumbag (it's likely he was taking a share of the embezzled profits being withheld from Douglas and Boyd). However he's always been much closer with people like Steven Stapleton and the boys from Coil so of course they're going to take his side in such a dispute.

Also for the record I don't think any of the people mentioned above or most of the people mentioned in this thread for that matter are fascists. Not because they're fake or trying to be edgy but simply because they're all intelligent enough to formulate their own personal system of beliefs rather than adopt something as archaic as fascism wholesale. In regards to the "degeneracy" of someone like Douglas Pearce it would do a lot of good for the posters of /pol/ to read into people like Ernst Röhm and Yukio Mishima who I would consider to be Pearce's spiritual peers. All ultra right wing, all ultra gay, and all most likely significantly less "degenerate" than the average straight person on /pol/.

The World Serpent issue was definitely the final straw in the falling out between those bands. However, if you look through the DiJ Yahoo archives, Douglas has mentioned how his friendship with Tibet was already on pretty shaky grounds partially due to ideological differences before all the legal issues emerged. As Tibet grew more serious about Christianity, he apparently could not stand Douglas's irreverence toward Christianity and even refused to talk to him one time because Douglas joked about it. If it were merely just about money, I doubt Douglas would have held as much of a grudge over it as he did and for so long too. I get a sense of betrayal from the whole thing. The fact that Tibet has sided with people on the opposite spectrum of what people like Douglas and Boyd represent makes it clear that he's rejected all that.

On that note, it makes me a bit sad that Michael Cashmore of all people has become a cross-dressing freak.
