I'm a vet using the GI Bill, so I've been exposed to both worlds.
Personally, I think being a welfare queen first (PTing all the time, making lifelong friends, and learning some discipline) is much better than going through uni first. The average age of law school graduates is about 27. If you get an associates while you're in the military and join right out of high school, you graduate law school at 27. The military is not a bad career choice if you only do one enlistment and you don't pick infantry.
