There was some turmoil with them in the early 1900's and were practically thrown out the country, but since diplomatic ties were established, I can say China is a respected country here. There's a big, thriving Chinese community now. Sure, there's the usual "made in china lol" bantz, but Mexicans generally recognizes China as the world's emergent super power.

It won't matter. Once NAFTA is gone, China won't give a shit about Mexico. The only reason China sees Mexico as a trading partner is because of the backdroor via NAFTA.

The very reason why we get so much shitty dangerous products from China is because of Mexico. They ship everything to Mexico now, to ship to the US.

End NAFTA and pretty much Mexico turns into Africa. Mexico has a very little skilled work force (who are white surprise surprise), so the country will literally fall apart because they don't have an internal market that functions.

That's wonderful. The fact of the matter is, Mexico neither has the technology or industry to extract and market those resources without outside help.

The massive poor and uneducated doesn't help. The lack of capital doesn't help either. You need a functioning industry and logistics like the US for those resources to be useful and marketable. You need to have capital and capitalists to make and sell those resources. The US has a massive internal market that it will survive on its own even if it shut down all its borders.

Mexico has none of that. Selling yourselves to China is a quick way to suicide, because the Chinese already mass migrate their own workers to Mexico to undercut even the poverty ridden Mexicans. Mexico gains zero as a country because none of their people will rise to the title of skilled worker because of that. A few corrupt politicians get billions to buy and fuck your daughters at parties, while the Mexican population get dropped down to a slave class to serve others.

China and Mexico will never get along for the long term. They both compete for the same market (cheap goods of dubious quality and safety with low cost labor) and geographic location is the only advantage one has over the other across various global markets. China doesn't gain much from Mexicans in terms of consumer base, neither do Mexicans for Chinese consumers.

China's focus will likely be on Pemex, which is state-owned/controlled, fiercely protectionist and anti-foreign involvement. However, after Pena fucked with the privatization and govt subsidies causing a 20% jump in gas prices, natural resources will likely be off the negotiating table for some time, especially with a foreign power. This is mostly a sad attempt at sending a signal to the recent US foreign policy moves and it will fail, primarily because Mexico doesn't bring much to the table and is actually a drain on political capital.
