It only appears that it failed each time. In reality, the mass deaths and starvation were exactly part of the plan for a worldwide communist order. The countries that became communist did what they needed to do in order to pave way for full communism at a later date in their countries. For instance, China and Russia were both feudal before communism, but since communism is supposed to come after capitalism and capitalism after feudalism, they had to go into overdrive and kill all the useless peasants who would not be needed in the capitalist system. That's why even though Russia and China were awful places to live, by industrial output standards they were extremely successful considering their feudal origins. Eventually, the whole world will fall under communism, so it's not accurate at all to say that it failed or that it's a dead idea. What happened in the 20th century was a mere prologue to what's happening and what will happen in the 21st century. Get ready ;)
